nah, the update we deserve is the game shutting down, like a windows update that makes it refuse to run minecraft

Hot take: I actually like Chaos cubed its fun I know not everyone builds minigames but I like to and thats okay I understand people want more content But I like it

    Finally someone said it

Also the sulfur update unironically looks good. Gj Mojang, keep it up

  4. I don’t really like that argument.

    I kinda get both sides.

It is clear, we are not entitled to get updates. But i also understand people who feel, like they’re lackluster. You will never make everybody happy.

I play Path of Exile since 2014 and it’s a very non-predatory free to play ARPG. In that game, we get regular updates in the size of the Nether update every 3-4 months. Not all updates are that big, but the game lives from getting regular big updates and overhauls, that are entirely free. People decide to spend a lot of money money on stash tabs or cosmetics and are happy to do so, because we feel heard by the company. Still, people always complain, no matter what they do.

What i feel, what’s wrong with Mojang is, that i don’t feel that they listen to the community at all (for example: End update, implementing features they promised (fletching table), implementing stuff they already put thoughts in (like the other mobs from the mob votes)) and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It makes me feel like they don’t really care.

  5. My view us pretty simple.

I am happy that the game is still getting updates.

    The updates are generally good

But that dosent mean we cant criticize updates or wish for better ones.

still stupid, they get enough money with bedrock stilll. They are just lazy devs…

I love they are catering to every type of playerbase with these smaller updates. Always covering at least 2+ everytime. Can’t wait to use the new Slimes myself. Even though I only play single-player, making games or farms with these will be fun.

Plus the new blocks are alright, not to useful in medival builds, but we need more brighter colours. Maybe we could have a drop that introduces more bright coloured wood, would love to see a nicer shade of blue wood.

I’m hoping we have a bigger update in the future, but I’m happy we do have drops to let Mojang work on it and release a functioning update and not a bug filled one.

  8. Truth.

Just about every other game would have had the major updates as dlc or a version 2,3,4..

Stop your whining and enjoy the game or go play some other voxel game with the same level of modder support MC java has

It also has pretty aggressive microtransations on the main version of the game and charges a pretty steep price to run a very small server.

  10. Okay, it’s 16 years old game and so what? Let’s say they stop updating the game and it slowly dies and they get no revenue. Their spin-off games never were good nor made good money (except for dungeons but it’s nowhere close to OG Minecraft). Mods won’t keep the game up forever (they might help but the influx of new people would get smaller and smaller)

They need to keep the game alive with updates to make people buy the game and for kids to pay for microtransactions otherwise the whole company will die and I’m not even mentioning how Microsoft wouldn’t allow updates to stop at all.

  11. Am I the only person who likes the update? Sure I do wish the sulphur caves were a bit cooler and had sulphuric acid. But the chaos cube looks like a genuinely very fun mechanic that’s probably gonna revolutionise minigames, which is very fun.

  12. Ok but what if the reason the updates have less content this year is not only are they focusing on backend stuff (tiny takeover patch notes where like 70% that) but also that they are preparing to add the skulk dimension from dungeons 2 like they did with village and pillage for 1 because they know that’s something people want and are saving it to be a tie in drop

I want update that makes previous updates have more points to actaully use like there isn’t enough ocean content for me to use nautilus, there is garbage loot in archeology abd barely any structures that use it and pale garden is just dehydrated dark oak forest but without woodland machions or the big mushrooms

Why expand on the most full part of the game which are the caves when there are multiple things to be finished or the fact that current pvp is people just being 90% in the time just in the air trying to oneshot you with mace or the spear which are fantastic weapons but i think there should be a cap to their dmg or higher cooldown

Just saying, we need 2019 level of hype for Mojang to make an update as big as the nether update. They only make drops of stuff you don’t want because Minecraft is currently in a position where its not really profitable.

  15. – The End was first introduced in 2011 with ver. 1.0
    – got 3 minor things changed between 1.0 and 1.9 and more between 1.9 and 1.21.11
    – It got an update in 1.9 in 2016
    – Its been 10 years since the End got an overhaul

    Compare to the nether
    – The Nether was introduced in Alpha 1.2 in October 2010
    – some key features like the nether fortress didn’t come out until a year later in 2011 with 1.0
    – got continuous tweaks that livened the place between 1.0 and 1.15
    – 1.16 aka the Nether update overhauled the Nether 10 years after it released

You can see why people want an End Update

At this point Minecraft is not a game, it’s a brand. The company receives tons of annual revenue from Minecraft products, including merch, toys, movies, subscriptions, cosmetics, and to this day continue to sell the base games. The company continues to add updates not just for the love of the game, but because doing so makes them money. Just because the revenue is indirect doesn’t mean that the update is entirely free.

Updating the game maintains hype and keeps the brand relevant. People get excited about the new features, they release update-relevant toys, people buy realms subscriptions to try out the new updates with friends. It is not only justified but required to criticize the game and the company in order to get better updates in the future. Criticism is a form of user feedback, and while the time to implementing the feedback can be very long for a company of that size, I’m confident that they still take it into consideration.

TL;DR: “Free” updates bring them tons of revenue and require criticism as a form of feedback

  18. Reminder that Minecraft is paid, and that one of it’s versions has micro transactions and it’s on most platforms

When did this sub become this meme?

May I remind y’all that this is not a free game and that Mojang makes boatloads from it every year? Even if we don’t “deserve” an update, they still gotta make them if they want their game to be relevant and sell to more kids (you do know not one generation plays Minecraft right?)

We are absolutely allowed to criticise them if they are being lazy. Whether we deserve an update or not, we don’t need to roll over and accept what they give us. Real people put real time and effort into this game and its updates and it’s only fair for us to tell them what does and doesn’t work so that *we* can get a better experience from their hard work.
