It really does help to copy other builds so you can learn the techniques for when you do your own stuff. My own builds started getting much better when I began doing that.

Ahh yes my imaginary copy paste technique,
haven’t used this since the Cthulhu Reign Era

I have kinda weird relationship with building things in terraria, cause at one hand I obv want it to not be ugly/too simple, but then when you build something not ugly & mostly decorated etc, then it becomes not really convenient in day-to-day gameplay..
Like for example having all your crafting stations in one place, well if you build like a dozen separate houses or rooms for each theme like ”house of a blacksmith” or ”carpenter workshop” etc etc then it all becomes inconvenient to navigate later on.. And on one hand they will be nice looking but on the other hand.. eh..

My advice for any aspiring builder: learn and master tricks, just a couple at a time. Things like ‘use the golden ratio’, ‘make the outer wall wider’, and ‘balloon blocks + paint + grass walls = nice bushes’ slowly transform your building game in small, easy to digest steps!
