I’m turning Minecraft into an alien planet survival game. Here’s where I’m at so far:

What you're looking at is a custom map I've made for the purposes of this overhaul. Minecraft's world generation will be replaced by terrain which is a 1:1 translation of my alien conworld into minecraft. (This is just a test map, not the real thing) The changes so far are mostly cosmetic (note the conspicuously vanilla-shaped trees), but I plan to have this to permeate nearly every aspect of the game.

All the textures here were done by me, and are made to match the environment and organisms of my speculative alien world. I have edited the lighting to contribute to atmosphere a little better. I have also made spores, which rain down from the sky constantly. I plan to make these toxic to breathe for the player, requiring a gas mask to traverse the more spore-dense biomes without taking damage. It will act as a soft barrier for the newer players on locations which will have the better loot, and more of the old world tech…
