Weapon modifier. Either progress until a certain townsfolk enters your home or make another one. Optionally you can use a certain liquid to get your ingredients back and make another that way

Its a modifier/prefix, weapons can roll a variety of these and ignorant is a bad one

every weapon and accessory has a randomly assigned modifier that can either give you better or worse stats, you got unlucky and got one of the worse ones. You can either craft another and hope for better luck or wait until you find a certain NPC that lets you pay to reroll for better modifiers

each time you craft/obtain a weapon or accessory, it has a chance to be modified. some are good, some are bad, as you see here you got a bad one. eventually there will be a feature to help with this modifier stuff later on, but as for now it’d be best to either craft another or just tough it out with this one

Everyone else already explained it, so I’ll add that you can reroll and change the modifier of any weapon/accessory for the cost of some money. But it’s random, so it’s like gambling trying to get the good modifiers that give plus damage and speed and whatnot.

You can only reroll for modifiers by talking with a specific NPC and reforging the weapon/accessory (giving the greedy bastard more and more money each time you gamble…). You’ll find said NPC only after you repel the goblin army invasion, finding him tied up in the caves somewhere.

You can summon the goblin army either by using a summon made from tattered cloth (A specific material dropped only by goblin scouts, who are normally found near the oceans/toward the ends of the map) or the goblin army may come naturally after you destroy a shadow orb/crimson heart.

It’s a modifier, there are many both good and bad, ignorant is a bad one, that’s why it has -10% damage and +14% mana cost, you can get a npc later that let’s you change the modifier but it costs a lot of gold.

  7. If you ever are looking for bros to play with, I’d be happy to throw my hat into the ring. I love this game so much but never have opportunities for multiplayer.

It’s a modifier. Each weapon can have modifiers that make it worse or better. They can be reforged at the goblin tinkerer for gold.

While it’s fine to ask I’d also recommend Google and the terraria wiki as they can provide a more indepth awnser faster.

  9. its the reforge on it. when you craft or find items theres a chance they have a specific prefix that either buffs or debuffs their basic stats. bad reforges that debuff are grey and i think sometimes red? good reforges can span anywhere from green to orange

Weapons and tools can have modifiers which affect their stats. This staff is “ignorant” so it has less damage and whatnot. You can get good modifiers too.

Eventually you’ll meet a guy who can reforge your stuff and give it a random modifier, for a price.

    From marian-webster dictionary:

Ignorant refers to a lack of knowledge, education, or awareness, often describing someone uninformed about a particular subject or in general. It implies being untaught, unlearned, or unaware of specific facts, rather than just having low intelligence. It can also describe actions resulting from this lack of knowledge.
