Has anyone played this game? If so was it fun? What’s the gist? Like I’m so curious. My s/o and I like to play stardew together and am curious if this would be a good game for us.

I have the game and I really enjoy it! You’re basically moving around the board each day an foraging along the way, each section represents a specific task/skill. You work through the seasons to accomplish specific tasks from Grandpa and complete the community center bundles. A bit of a learning curve, but so fun (especially with larger groups in my opinion)

  2. I really like it, I play it regularly with my wife (after we did 100% twice in the video game)

I own it and have played it, it’s a really fun cooperative game that adapts the game very well! The general gameplay is going through days and doing various Stardew activities (fishing, farming, mining, making friends etc.) while trying to complete the Community Center as well as some randomly picked “Grandpa’s Goals” before the end of the year. I’ve heard that earlier editions were very difficult, but I have a newer printing and personally found the difficulty to be pretty reasonable, you almost always make it in the end but it can get pretty tight. It can be played solo but it works best with more players, as you each get to choose a class to specialize in and I enjoyed it most with 4 people. Almost everything from Stardew Valley pre-1.5 is in it, whether in the form of tiles you can purchase (ex: farm animals) or powerups from a randomized deck. The cards are good quality and don’t tear/wear much in my experience. My only warning would be that the game truly takes a long time! On average it took us 3-4 hours each time so make sure you have an afternoon cleared for it.

  4. It’s great if you have someone to play it with! Hard to find people who will sit and play a board game for hours these days

As a Stardew Valley enthusiast and a board game enthusiast, I think it’s a better Stardew Valley game than a board game. It perfectly captures the Stardew Valley feel, the familiar icons and backgrounds, the collecting for the community center, etc., and distillates it into a working board game. It’s much more than fan service; it’s a really viable and fun board game.

BUT… if I wasn’t a Stardew fan, would it be the best board game for that genre? Probably not. It’s not bad at all, but it’s more enjoyable because it feels like Stardew than because “wow this is a life-changing board game”. I think as long as you have that attitude going in, it’s a really fun Sunday funday afternoon. (But note: it will take the whole afternoon)

  6. It’s a good game if you like stardew valley. If you have no connection to the source material, it’s kind of mediocre as far as board games go. If you are posting in the SDV sub though, you’ll probably enjoy it. I say go for it!

  7. I love it! 🙂
It has the main Stardew Valley features (farming, mining, friendships, etc) in a compact and friendly way, that makes for one of the best coop boardgames I’ve played! If you love the game, the boardgame is a no brainer! Oh, and it’s insane value for the price!

This game is a treat. It’s cozy, coop, cute and true to the source material. My friends and I are experienced board gamers but this one is no cakewalk, it’s surprisingly crunchy and challenging. If that’s not your jam, it’s actually very simple to make it easier, you add more season cards to the deck per season. It also scales well depending on how many players you have, unlike some games we’ve played that say 2-6 on them but are unwinnable at 2 and unplayable at 6. It is quite susceptible to losing pieces though, the dice are unique and many tokens make it difficult if you lose them. For example, the legendary fish have only one each, makes sense since you only catch one in the game, but god help you if you lose the token…. So if you have a gremlinous child around (or 3 like us) try to keep it out of reach.

  9. The game is very true to the stardew experience (time passing, harvesting crops, mining, foraging, fishing, completing bundles). The main complaint is that if you’re expecting a cozy comfy chill experience this is not that. While not very hard relative to other board games, Beating the game requires collaboration, strategy, and planning. Essentially, the game is a good representation of stardew valley IF you’re trying to finish the community center in one year. Not the kind of experience everyone wants, but if appeals to you its a very fun collaborative game

Just picked it up a few weeks ago.

Fiancé and I have had some fun but I feel it had a bit of a steep initial learning curve (we also don’t play a lot of board games so it may be on us) but after a few turns we’ve gotten the hang of it. I had to look up some rules because there were some vague things.

Definitely need a lot of space!

  11. I have it, played it multiple times with my wife or friends. I love it, especially for being cooperative. Can’t remember that i stumbled upon something that’s not good.

The boardgame even got one of my friends into the actual game on steam. It seems it is a enjoyable experience even for SV noobs.

If you want to try it out: there is at least one scripted version as mod in the steam workshop for the Tabletop Simulator.

But If you like SV, you will probably adore this boardgame.
