Because an April Fools day update doesn’t have to take into consideration any long term effects on the game. It can just do stuff that’s fun and then we can pretend again like nothing happened and then go back to normal.
If all of them were permanently added, the game would be totally different in feeling and imo pretty incoherent. Even in the past few years without looking stuff up we got a Roguelite esk mode and the potato dimension. The latter could be somewhat combined with the rest, but there are better options for a 4th dimension.
Plus, with all the technical stuff under the hood they are changing, they are obviously preparing themselves for something. It is public knowledge that the technical changes they had to make for Caves and Cliffs increased the time we had to wait for it and caused a lot of burn out in the team.
The change might just be the Ancient City portal opening and what ever that connects us to. The Dungeons II trailer made it opening pretty clear
