In modern minecraft rivers are rarely more than 30 blocks across, a most times they will be only about 10 blocks wide, and they'll constantly break. + Starting with1.18, they'll very often loop back on themselves, breaking even more and creating something more similar to a long lakes, making them a terrible way to move, essentially useless at all stages of the game.

Meanwhile, rivers in late infdev can be more than a 100 blocks across, and constant, looking more like real life rivers, so I think that at least some rivers should generate like this, but be less frequent than today, because today I think it's to much rivers ruining the terrain.

If you interested how I got 60 chunk radius loaded and shades on infdev, I used "Moderner Beta" Mod, so it's actually on 1.21.6, but identical to infdev by landscape

they should make these large rivers rarer, and near large oceans too, making oceans sometimes like 3x the size they are now, and the river mouth near the ocean gets much wider, but otherwise river sizes are fine

  2. Yeah, the bodies of water in minecraft have always been sub-par to me. I want actual rivers! I want oceans and continents! I want good beaches and river deltas! I want deep abyssal oceans!

  3. Yeah, but maybe if they were 50-70 blocks wide. That and wide and expansive plains would be amazing.
