I went over the bookseller today hoping to get the queen of sauce cookbook—I decided to go for perfection and thought it would be much quicker than watching the TV channel. To my surprise, I’d apparently already bought it and read it! This is weird to me bc I still have a bunch of recipes that don’t seem to be unlocked. I bought it again and reread it for good measure. No change.
I’m confused. Is this a glitch? How do I unlock the remaining recipes? There are 12 recipes that still have the ??? Label in my collections tab.

I imagine those can only be obtained when getting sufficiently high relationships with other characters. Better get to work on giving out gifts!
It doesn’t give you recipes, it gives you experience in the 5 categories: combat, mining, fishing, farming, and foraging.
The cookbook only gives you recipes from the Queen of Sauce. The others come from frienship with various villagers, or Gus.
Not all recipes come from Queen of the Sauce. Some recipes are unlocked through friendship or can be purchased.
I’m guessing it’s because not all recipes come from the queen of sauce. Some can only be obtained by reaching a certain friendship level with other characters.
And on a side note, it actually seems like you had already read the book before buying it, because it had the little “thumbs up” icon on it, and would only give you experience. That is what happens if you’ve already read a book.
There are recipes that are unlocked by having high friendship with different npc’s some can only be bought like some drink (idk the name) from ginger Island resort. So get your iridium quality rabbit feet to befriend the npc’s faster or cheaper versions smoked fishes and cheese the higher the quality the better! I may miss some things so wait for others to see what i missed.
My last recipe, I got by reaching 5 hearts with Sandy. Befriend everyone
You haven’t maxed out friendship with everyone yet.
The book just bypasses the need to watch the television every Wednesday.
Sounds like you still have friendship recipes to unlock
There’s also a shit ton of recipes you have to purchase, both early game and late game.
You can check the [collections page](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Collections) on the wiki and figure out how to get the ones you’re missing.

If it has the little thumbs up next to it on the vendor, it means you have learned everything from the book.
