Is finishing the community centre not a goal for you?
Try using mods if you have an android you can use mods as well not sure about iphone but mods could make it more enjoyable there’s a mod that lets you date and marry Caroline and kids are included
try unlocking the community center, just go about every day trying to tick things off from there. if it still doesn’t work, there’s no shame in acknowledging that the game may not be for you.
Which kind of farm are you choosing? One kind of farm comes with a chicken coop and 2 chickens, so you’re getting eggs right away and you can start unlocking things faster.
The first big “goal” that the game gives you is to complete the Community Center. There’s a couple other goals that get unlocked, but let’s focus on the CC for now.
The CC wants you to get items from every season and every skill, so it gives you a good reason to explore everything and do all the activities the game has to offer. In doing all that, you’ll hopefully find activities thar you particularly enjoy. Maybe you find out you like fishing. Maybe you realize going through the mines is a lot of fun. Maybe you just want to zone out and chop a bunch of trees. Filling out the CC helps you figure that out.
If decorating your farm and farmhouse is fun to you, you’ll want to buy the flooring and brazier recipes from the carpenter’s shop, as well as the wallpaper and furniture catalogs. The catalogs are pretty expensive, though, so doing all the aforementioned activities will help you get money to pay for them.
Start there and see where that gets you!
10-15 hours sounds like partway through summer. How much progress have you made in that time? Any tool upgrades, sprinklers, etc.?
Early fall is when special orders start, so you may want to try pushing through to that point and see if they hold your interest better.
There’s romancing characters, unlocking areas you haven’t discovered yet, you gotta find the things in the game and find your way to play it. We can tell you all day to play it this way and that, but one of the best things about this game is you can play it however you want.
Maybe instead of just doing some basic exploring, maybe start a basic farm to at least generate some profit/food and then spend most of your time in the mines. I won’t say more but The further you go down the more stuff you come across and the better the stuff is
I hope you can find a way to enjoy playing your own way because this game is so much fun! 😁 sometimes it’s not for everyone and that’s okay too! If it doesn’t work out, I wish you luck finding a next adventure that suits you well!
The first 10-15 hours is like 5% of Stardew unless you’re using exploits or know the game like the back of your hand.
Try exploring more; the mines, the spa, cultivating new crops, harvesting the forces of nature, crafting more complex gear, finishing the community center, being great friends with everyone in town, buying all the unique paintings, catching all the legendary fish, finishing willy’s boat, collecting all the golden walnuts, making your ginger island farm, skull cavern and the volcano dungeons, the witch, obelisks, the casino, Mr Qi’s quests, the town’s natural quest board.
Even if we exclude the two video games you can play within this video game (journey of the prairie king and Junimo cart), the myriad of easter eggs and the necessities of getting perfection, there’s still soooo much to do.
I like to play challenges, like the hermit challenge where you aren’t allowed to leave the farm ever you make do with what you have. Or a modified hermit version where you can only leave once a season. There are some other fun challenges out there as well, they keep things interesting. Otherwise I’ll set a specific farm type up, I have a farm that’s just flowers, one that’s just animals, another that’s just fruit, and another that’s just vegetables. There’s also starting all vineyard and all sorts of other fun little things you can set as goals.
Okay, play something else.
I was scrolling past, looking at it for a second, I thought I saw a giant Junimo.
I’m like “Awww, cute” *scrolls back up to see it properly*
Accck!
Why do people post completely random images that have nothing to do with the thread? Is this a bot?
play with a twist, i want to play a save where i play like i play on fields of mistria, instead of selling crops or artisan goods, i can only sell cooked food
boom, nice challenge where i gave to try get kitchen upgrade quicker or make sure to keep supplies for the portable cooking fire. and boom, i have a reason to actually talk to villagers so i can get recipes
for me i find the min-maxing and profit maxing is what makes it less enjoyable. so yeah, not worry about kegs and cellars for ✨️profit✨️ makes the game more fun for me
If something isn’t fun for you, you don’t need to do it. Take a walk go for a bike ride. Go to a dog park play a different video game and come back to it when you feel like you want to.
For me perfection is the ultimate goal but start with little things like leveling up skills, making your farm look nice, unlocking parts of the community center, building relationships, etc.
If you’re using a PC then you can mod it to make it easier/progress faster if that’s what’s holding you back. It’s fine to tailor your experience until you’re having fun. But also consider if playing these types of games is fun for you.
If it’s just wanting to create cute spaces consider home decorating games.
If you’re not enjoying it, that’s okay. It might not be the game for you. 😊
Maybe Stardew Valley just isn’t your game? It’s okay if that’s the case! Not all games are everyones cup of tea. Maybe give something else a try and come back later.
You don’t have to keep going if you don’t want to.
Got perfection, had a routine set-up that my farmer would theoretically keep following, quit the game
honestly i can never play stardew alone for some reason, but when playing multiplayer i get kinda obsessed 😭
Honest advice. Go ahead and stop. It will be there still when you’re ready to come back for it
TikTok brain.
Exploring lore/setting, meeting new characters/creatures, finding new elements of content I didn’t hear of on the internet. I choose a farm that has 2 chickens cause I can unlock things faster that way. But you’re not obligated to play the game if you’re not interested in what it has to offer
Don’t, move on.
If you’re not having fun thats fine. Come back when you have the itch.
Don’t make your hobbies a chore.
I mean i play because i think it’s fun. Then when i stop feeling it’s fun i stop. Sometimes i even make it to winter.
Then i play another game. Then i get bored of that game and come back to stardew. New map. New mods. I play around for a few seasons. Get bored. Play another game. The cycle repeats
Mods add a bunch of stuff and fun, mods like ridgeside, expanded, east scarp etc are great and ones that add new seeds, forage and fish are a great thing to have too!
after my first play through with my boyfriend and we completed the community center by year 2… it definitely got harder to still be into it after that. idk it just took such a long time for all of that, and theres not much reward or paths that can open once that is completed. sure, our next goals were to hit perfection and mastery in all 5… but it seems useless at that point. all in all its a game, youre allowed to get bored and not feel interested at all, and you can enjoy the game years down the road after time has gone
Playing with friends. Splitting tasks and working on things together kept things interesting for me.
Minha dica é “Se for parar de jogar, quando voltar não resetar para um novo save e continuar o seu.”, eu uso essa dica no jogo quadrado.
Do a Joja run and do a profit centric farm for a change of pace
fields of mysteria just came out and it’s heavily inspired by stardew! it’s still in beta but might be up your valley! (pun not intended)
I used to not like it too, bought it, launched, ran around for an hour, deleted and forgot about SW for long time
Then when i got sick i had nothing to do so i decided to try Apple Arcade and saw that SW was on there, gave it another try and played for 12 hours like 3 days straight
The goal to keep playing is to dive in further
Learn more about the game, complete the mines, complete the CC, marry one of the villagers, try to do literally everything
There’s already a pre-determined list of goals to attain in the game to be considered a “complete” save file. If what you’re saying is that you’re not motivated to attain all those goals and beat the game, well that’s fine. There’s other games out there, I’m sure you could find something you enjoy more rather than forcing yourself to play a game you aren’t into.
If what you’re saying is that you can’t find reasons to play *after* 100% completing the game, but you *are* enjoying the game too much to put it down just yet, try looking into modding. The community has made tons more content to play with either adding new stuff or changing around what’s already there. If you aren’t on PC, I can’t guarantee you’ll be able to mod your game, but if you are, it’s worth considering.
If what you’re saying is you *haven’t* completed the game but you *are* enjoying it and just don’t know how to progress, first focus on the Community Center. I tend to think of Stardew Valley as having 4 or 5 “archs” like a manga series. First is the Community Center arch, then the Movie Theater mini arch, the Willy’s Boat mini arch, and the Ginger Island arch.
My advice when a game gets to this “boring” stage: stop playing! No, that doesn’t mean you can never play again. Play a different game for a bit and then come back. If every other game feels boring or unappealing, then it’s not the game that is the issue. You’re craving something else, some other kind of enrichment. Maybe it’s as simple as you’re hungry or need a bath (self care does affect your motivation). Maybe your muscles are itching to move around and you just need to go for a quick walk outside. Maybe your eyes need a break from the screen.
But the big thing to keep in mind is 1. you can always come back to the game and 2. you dont *have to*.
The point of a game is to entertain. If you’re not enjoying it, do something else. I jump between Baldur’s Gate 3, The Sims, Stardew Valley, Timberborn, Minecraft, and various Zelda games. When I tire of one, I move on to another. I also engage in various hobbies outside of video games. If your hobby isnt enjoyable, there’s no shame in dropping it for now or forever.
If you’re not enjoying yourself, it may not be the game for you.
If you ARE enjoying yourself but just arent sure what to do beyond the basics and thus lose motivation after that point, try setting little challenges for yourself. “Can I find all of the weird statues” “can I spend a year making money from nothing but [insert thing here]” “I am going to figure out decorating by setting up a shed and decorating it trial and error” “I must lay paths on my farm before I can move on” “I have to clear the mines top to bottom” anything that interests you.
People are being super rude but honestly the enjoyment from stardew is that small town life at first. Befriend the villagers, it ends up unlocking a lot more. Going through their dialogues is fun for me but even if you skip the cutscenes you’ll unlock more recipes (cooking and crafting) and there’s a whole island to explore away from the valley in late game. Theres a lot to do and I’m sorry that a lot of people have come off so hostile in the first place. Look at the collections tab in your game! I like completing that as well personally. It’s satisfying to see it fill up.
Preserves. Very fun
