this is a bug, he’s suppose to say that line if you marry leah (since they’re friends) but the line somehow got moved to elliott instead. but if you want to use the line to think of some interesting headcanon then sure why not.
Once you’ve plucked a flower it’s already dying and no amount of care will save it.

Fun fact, according to Mr. ConcernedApe himself that dialogue was originally meant to be played when you married Leah and then talked to Elliott! But, unfortunately (or fortunately) it now plays after you marry him.
