i'm skipping 2009 and 2010 since there were no april fools' jokes those years.

  • 2011: The Minecraft Store // No version, in-game.
  • 2012: Mars Effect // No version, website hoax.
  • 2013: Minecraft 2.0 // No version, Notch supposedly ran out of time to make it.
  • 2014: Villagers // No version, everyone's skin got changed to a damn villager for a day.
  • 2015: Love and Hugs Update // 15w14a, (middle image) themed around love and teased 1.9
  • 2016: Trendy Update // 1.RV-Pre1, introduced stuff like VR goggles, a bracelet, etc, etc…
  • 2017: Mine & Craft Digital Leisure Device // no version, an ad for a device that kinda looked like a Game&watch
  • 2018: Texture update // Java Edition 17w43a to 18w11a, gave us "better" textures
  • 2019: MineCraft 3D // 3D shareware v1.34, minecraft briefly turned into Doom. See for yourself.
  • 2020: Ultimate Content Update // 20w14∞, added inifnite dimensions and 43 hard-coded easter egg dimensions. there's always that one dude who lists them in the replies.
  • 2021: Minecraft Plus // No version, just some cool screensavers.
  • 2022: One Block at a Time // 22w13oneBlockAtATime, (right image) "inventory's gone, have fun!!"
  • 2023: Vote Update // 23w13a_or_b, vote for in-game modifiers
  • 2024: Poisonous Potato Update // 24w14potato, my personal favorite. a poisonous potato took over the game, they even added a new dimension and everything
  • 2025: CraftMine // 25w14craftmine, (left image) make your own mines, complete with a skill tree and more
  • 2026: Herdcraft // 26w14a, "we removed the inventory again, but heres leads and an army of blocks and items!!"
