I’ve always wondered this. I only play vanilla as I still have so much more to discover and don’t want to miss it while playing modded

Modded is super fun! It doesn’t necessarily make you miss out on vanilla content. Just adds more or can change certain aspects. Theres a bunch of decoration and clothes mods, quality of life mods, storyline expansions, character add ons, and you can basically change how the entire game looks from mods.
If you really want vanilla with no extra content, I’d always reccomend starting off with something little like automate, Elle’s cuter animals, cjb cheats, and ui info suites plus whatever tickles your fancy as you scroll through nexus

  2. There’s still a lot of little tiny modded tweaks that help out like visual cues to know when you’ve petted animals and auto opening gates. Even with all the amazing updates over the years, there are mods that feel like they fit the base game in my mind at least.

  3. I alternate. The base game is fun. There are definitely quality of life things I miss when I’m not playing modded (“ship anything” and “lookup anything” come to mind)

I love the content people have added to the game, new people, and new places. Nota the Herpetologist is my favorite character in any version of the game.

  4. I played vanilla until I managed to reach 100% perfection. Then I installed like a hundred mods to try out a modded run.

So what is that counting? Everyone who has the game up in Steam? I just leave it up all the time so I don’t need to finish days.

I’m a heavy Modder girly but started a vanilla playthru on my switch a couple days ago and it’s really refreshing going back to vanilla and just enjoying it simple while laying in bed.I

  7. I played vanilla once in the pc, twice in the mobile and its all mods from there LOL

  8. Dudes how do yall mod from steam? Asking because there are so many QoL mods and I’ve vit the itch again.

i started out on switch and now I have a PC so I play there. LET ME TELL YOU there’s a mod that makes it to where you can buy from a counter even if the people aren’t there so YOU DONT HAVE TO SEARCH ALL OVER THE GODDAMN MAP FOR MARNIE BECAUSE SHE’S NEVER AT HER POST WHEN I NEED HER (🙏 god bless that woman) it also makes it rly nice to be able to sell your fish to Willy. SpeakING of fish, there’s a mod that makes the lil fishies swim show up swimming in the waters. Other than that, as Vanilla as possible

Right now I’m doing modded with visual mods only. When 1.7 rolls out I’ll be starting on a vanilla save.

On PC I did play with some mods (not cosmetic ones but functional ones like pausing time, quick transport, etc).

Now, I play on Switch so Vanilla. And if I go back to PC I’ll probably go back to Vanilla too.

  13. Definitely modded. Being able to pause or slow down time is wonderful. I don’t care about the time pressure, I just want a chill experience.

  14. Wait….theres an open world version of stardew?? I’ve only ever played on Xbox so idk about all these mods and this player count – it’s a whole new world! I genuinely can’t wait to play this on pc

  15. Stardew Valley Expanded blends so seamlessly with the base game. I also use one that shows where all the NPCs are on the map so that I don’t have to look it up

I play modded.. I mean, it’s vanilla except for being able to easily track the villagers. Quality of life, haha

I play on my bricked iPhone from like 2019 🥲 I want to decorate everywhere instead of just my house

Stardew valley expanded (modded) here! Pretty much just that mod and a couple of visual/QOL mods.
