  1. I wonder what kind of contraptions can be done considering that you can place/remove sulfure mobes and add/remove blocks from them with redstone.

Thinking about that this should allow for an easy mob switcher (although I don't know if they count as hostile mobs)

  2. Mojang really has out done themselves with this update. Not really… This is the ugliest biome so far. ugliest blocks, works for building as new colors though. doesn't blend very well with rest of the caves. Doesn't really bring much for exploration either seeing how common this is in the caves, but that maybe just also for the snapshot to test it though. As of functionality there is the cube, that I find not so interesting yet, though I would like to see what others come up with that. I feel the updates are lacking because there are so small now, but at least they come more often / regularly.

  3. laymans' terms about vulkan, vulkan is the major graphics library companies use because it's (in short) more precise. this means 2 things for the game: mojang can get some insane graphics support for the game BUT it also means that updates can break easier if someone doesn't take how certain functions work into account.

  4. While using vulkan, I've noticed that preformance absolutely sucks on Linux. To the point that tuning the game to opengl and using zink (opengl to vulkan translator) the game runs better.

  5. I see they been playing with the dripstone caves too. Probubly just a clash issue with World gen but I wonder. If you put a pointer drip stone in on and leaded it to a fence post on a flying machine. With maybe a sticky piston slime wall. That's 80% close to a block breaker if dripstone was a uneake block combination. Just speculating. Would be very redstobe revelushanary and would surcomvent the 12 block limit in a very mindcraft kind of way.

  6. It’d be cool if they expanded the archetypes with special properties; like I’d like to see redstone blocks continue to power nearby redstone allowing for mobile redstone power and for tnt to be primed and explode on impact.

  7. Glad to get the news from you. Vulkan will be the end of my access to Minecraft, since my computer will not be able to run it anymore. Tens of thousands of hours, gone, for no good reason. Even if the news is from you, it still is the worst thing to ever happen to the game.

  8. I played this snapshot and cranked up my settings with 32 render distance and 32 simulation distance and entity distance to 500% i still got 100+ fps but with opengl it was just 40 fps I would say vulkan is pretty stable and smooth

  9. I hope they give sulfur caves their own spider variant like how they made poison skeles into the bogged for the trial chambers. Sulfur spiders would be nice

  10. I'm curious if the cubes are the same size as blocks, and whether you can place blocks against them, if so, they'd certainly be interesting to use as a building material…

  11. you move faster with more friction, since your feet have more friction, it seems like friction is handled in the walking physics, which means that we've all been sliding a tiny bit this entire time and we've never noticed since that has always been the case, until now

  12. I am disappointed with how ugly the caves look. I really wish, like many others have said, there were many shades of sulfur this would help it look more realistic. I wish the transition was a lot smoother instead of a harsh cut

  13. Why is the opengl renderer like twice as fast as the vulkan renderer?
i flew up about 100 blocks with 32 render distance and got 140fps on vulkan and around 440 in opengl while spinning my mouse in a circle

    (i have a rx 7600x3d rtx 7900xtx and 48gb of ram)
