I've been working on this dystopian looking part of a megabase on my smp for a bit now on, i started with copying a few designs i found then started making my own things. Recently it occurred to me that it might be "block vomit", I'm not exactly sure, and I'm not exactly the best builder. I included shots from a few angles because its hard to see

Do you like it? At least, did you like it before thinking it’s “block vomit”?

  2. it looks okay to me. i think if you made either the vertical or horizontal end rods a little more sparse it’d be fine

It looks fine. It will look better as you fill it out more. I think there are too many end rods. Lots of things that are fighting for your attention.

  4. If you have to squint at it like it’s one of those magic pictures just to make out basic details, then yeah, it’s block vomit. If texturing is so detailed it compromises the basic form, people aren’t going to understand what they’re looking at. (This isn’t a comment on your build, I think it looks cool)

Yeah I gotta be honest, I can’t even tell what I’m looking at for some parts. The end rods look super bright in comparison to everything else and it is hard to distinguish the actual form of the buildings through all of the pipes and stuff. I think you need to be more intentional with the details and try to think about what purpose they would serve if it was real.

Block pallet is very much alright. Not “block vomit”. And yeah Change your shader settings. This lighting is god awful.

It definetly isn’t block vomit, all the details are individually really smart. As people have said, it is perhaps a liitle bit too detail dense even assuming you want a really detail dense city, the most impactful thing would be to remove like 30% of the end rods as others have said. That said you are still an incredible builder, this kinda dense city composition is crazy good work and I still love the detail even if it ends up a tad hard to read

  8. i really think that its effective at feeling utilitarian and dystopian. the amount of lights really sells the feeling of function over form, and even if it feels like an incohesive mess (which may not be anybodys first choice for looking for a ‘pleasant looking’ build), i think that this is exactly on the right track for creating what you’re looking for.

  9. I feel like it’d look better on vanilla shaders where the end rods aren’t lit up like this

Saying this, I don’t think this is block vomit, it’s just quite a full, messy build (in a good way)

  10. For a moment i thought that the title was the result of Google Translate having a stroke after someone tried to translate something like “Is this build bad?” XD

Definitely not “block vomit”. From those screenshots, the only thing I’d critique is that you might be using too much deepslate, which makes it kinda hard to distinguish the streets from the walls.
