I have not played since like 2013, but this was something I never found a solution for, and I am wondering if anything new will allow me to do this. I am playing on a java server, version 1.20.1.
Main objective: Create a heart of redstone torches where the torches light up from bottom to top (achieved a small scale one in photo 1 on a slanted wall). I'm trying to make the bigger one outlined with normal torches and do so on a completely flush wall now.
I know how to do a pulse, add delays to each layer, and all the basics of redstone, torches, and repeaters. I have read the basics of redstone blocks, and comparators but they are new to me. I don't think they will help me much here, but I could be wrong.
Specific objective I need help with: The biggest problem area is the 5 vertical torches on the left in photo 1. Again in the final build I want them on a flush flat wall like in photo 2. Again the whole wall is flat so I would not be able to wire them like in photo 3.
The ultimate goal is to take each of the outputs in photo 4 and independently hook them up to the torches in photo 2 without approaching from the side like in photo 3 or the signals crossing over and messing up the delays. I highly doubt this is possible in vanilla, but I just wanted to make sure before I start this build.
We do have the supplementaries mod on the server which adds cogs blocks and relayers. I did find a solution for this with those, but it's messy and since relayers give 1/2 of a redstone tick of delay (one in game tick), the timing is hard to do. It's still possible but a vanilla solution would be much less of a headache. (This solution is partially viewable in photo 4, but I'm sure I can figure out something a bit more compact than that, if this post doesn't go anywhere. Basically use the relayers and repeaters to pull back from the wall a bit, allowing me to approach from the sides like in photo 3.)
Thanks in advance for any advice!
