A viral moment from Twitch streamer Kai Cenat and YouTuber IShowSpeed’s wildly popular Minecraft livestream has been turned into a meme on TikTok and Instagram Reels thanks to Cenat’s pronunciation of the word “lapis.”
The meme comes from a moment when Speed thought the two struck diamonds, but instead found “la peace.” At least, that’s what Kai Cenat claims they’ve found.

What Is The ‘La Peace’ Meme?
Two of the top streamers right now, Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed, recently collaborated for a Minecraft stream. The two streamed for five days, vowing to beat the game on its hardest mode for their viewers.
In this mode, there are no respawns or extra lives, so if you die, you have to restart everything from the beginning.
At one point in the stream, Speed believes that he and Kai have found diamonds. He excitedly mines the resource, and Cenat bursts his bubble, saying, “That’s lapis,” as in lapis lazuli, a blue rock and material from the game.
However, in the clip, Cenat pronounces “lapis” in a way that makes it sound like “la peace.” Speed is unsure what Cenat means by “la peace,” and asks if it’s related to ancient Greece.
On August 16th, 2026, this clip became the subject of memes and edits that depict Cenat as a peaceful old monk after saying “la peace.”
How Is ‘La Peace’ Used In Memes?
As a meme, the “la peace” clip is often attributed to an image of Kai Cenat as an elderly monk or philosopher. These memes are meant to play off the idea that Cenat said “la peace” rather than “lapis.”
The simplest memes place the image of the peaceful, elderly Cenat into the stream with an arrow that points towards Cenat.
Some of the more complicated ones are elaborate edits that further depict Cenat and Speed as philosophers and pushers of peace.
