“Haunted Chocolatier” fans finally have something new to talk about. Eric Barone, or ConcernedApe, wasn’t kidding when he said in June that the game would take longer than usual.
ConcernedApe has shared another update on his highly anticipated game. The developer posted the update on August 30, more than two months after his previous development message.
There is still no release date, but the “Stardew Valley” creator knows that it’s the kind of game that shouldn’t be rushed.
ConcernedApe Is Still Working on ‘Haunted Chocolatier’

“Haunted Chocolatier” has been in development since 2020.
The game is being created by Barone, the developer behind the hugely successful “Stardew Valley.” Because of that connection, expectations surrounding his next project have grown considerably.
However, the new update suggests that fans may still have a long wait ahead.
Barone continues to develop “Haunted Chocolatier” at his own pace. He has also kept many parts of the game hidden from the public. His approach has made every development update especially interesting to fans.
ConcernedApe Does Not Want to Rush the Game
Barone once again explained why “Haunted Chocolatier” is taking so long. His perfectionist approach remains a major factor.
Rather than rushing the game toward release, Barone wants enough time to make sure the final experience reaches the standard he expects from himself. For him, quality comes before speed.
He also said that he does not feel particularly stressed about the lengthy development process. That is notable given how much attention the game has received since it was first announced.
The developer also thanked his community for being patient throughout the whole journey.
“My goal is to make a game that i am proud of and personally enjoy. And I am certain, at this point, that I will enjoy the game when it is finished. In fact, I already enjoy playing it in its unfinished state, especially after some recent additions i made… I hope others will like it too when it’s ready.”
New ‘Haunted Chocolatier’ Content Has Fans Speculating
One of the more interesting details from the latest “Haunted Chocolatier” update involves new additions to the game, Polygon reports.
Barone did not explain what those additions actually are.
Instead, he revealed that he has been enjoying playing the game himself, particularly after adding new features or content.
That small comment has already given fans something to speculate about. For now, though, there is no clear indication of what the new material contains.
Barone’s goal appears to remain simple. He wants to make a game that he genuinely enjoys playing.
According to his latest update, he feels that development is moving closer to that goal.
‘Haunted Chocolatier’ Still Has No Release Date
The latest update did not include a release date or even a specific launch window. It did provide one important reassurance, though. “Haunted Chocolatier” is still actively being developed.
For fans who have been waiting since 2020, that may be enough for now.
Barone’s occasional updates also give players a glimpse into the game’s progress without revealing too much. He closed his latest message by thanking fans for their continued support. He also wished them, their families, and their pets well.
The slower update is a little thing to think about. Even then, we could remember that “Stardew Valley” was on the verge of being erased when Barone told fans about its hard drive failure.
