Stardew Valley’s future is bright, even if developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone is currently spending the vast majority of his time creating new game Haunted Chocolatier.
That’s because it’s already been confirmed that Stardew Valley’s Update 1.7 is in the works too, with the update set to introduce Clint and Sandy as marriage candidates.
Unfortunately, there’s no estimate on when the update might be ready with Barone known to take his time – and that’s okay!
It’s especially okay as in the meantime on PC, several new mod creations have arrived that are certain to keep us busy in the imminent future.
If you’re looking for something new (and free) to spice up your Stardew Valley playthrough, allow us to present you with a major map overhaul and a cozy new expansion, both of which are available to enjoy now via NexusMods.
‘Cherrim’s Valley’ is a free map overhaul inspired by spring in Japan

In the spring, cherry blossom trees across the globe erupt into flower, and that’s precisely the sort of feeling NexusMods user heathinwillows has attempted to capture in ‘Cherrim’s Valley’, a complete overhaul of Stardew Valley’s map.
“A reimagined Stardew Valley outdoor map with a sense of tranquility, intimacy, and a lot of cherry” is how it’s described by the mod’s creator.
‘Cherrim’s Valley’ also adds more grass and wildflowers to the map, making it feel even more cottagecore than Stardew Valley already is. It’s whimsy maxxing, if you follow micro trends.
Within the mod, the railroad is now plantable, with a new cottage having been added near the tracks.
There’s also a new campsite to be found in the map’s forest, new birds you can interact with, an expanded secret woods, plus more regrowable stumps have been introduced.
Finally, there’s additional berry bushes throughout the valley and custom festival maps are included.
It’s a very comprehensive overhaul that’s very, very easy on the eye.

‘Woodlore Expanded’ adds new items and quests, all with a natural theme
Latteholn via NexusMods
If you want something that extends the Stardew Valley experience rather than transforms it aesthetically, ‘Woodlore Expanded’ may be to your liking.
This new mod from NexusMods creator Latteholn adds tons of new content all themed around, you guessed it, wood and the forest.
You should expect new trees, crafting and artisan goods, locations, buildings, recipes, quests, mechanics and more.
“Chop trees for more than just wood, process lumber into useful materials, and discover new wild trees. Along the way, meet two new woodland residents, explore new areas, complete freight contracts, and keep a field journal documenting what you find,” the creator notes.
Boue The Beaver and Musk The Hedgehog are the new NPCs you can expect to meet, with the former selling furniture and ice cream (as you do) and Musk offering scented candles. Cosy, I like it.
As for the new mechanics I mentioned, trees now produce new wood types, bark beetles can be shaken from trees during summer, plus papers can be traded for books now to name just a few.
Best of all, this mod is compatible with the incredibly popular ‘Stardew Valley Expanded’ so you don’t need to worry about any clashes.
Both of the aforementioned mods are available now so if you’re looking for some new zest within your playthrough on PC, this is it.
