Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone is hard at work on both Update 1.7 and new game Haunted Chocolatier, neither of which have launch windows.
If you’re craving something new in that former title in the meantime then, you’ll have to turn to the world of modding.
Thankfully, an awesome new sci-fi expansion has surfaced on NexusMods courtesy of creator Nullnnow. You’ll never guess where ‘To The Moon’ takes you …
‘To The Moon’ is an exciting new Stardew Valley player-made offering that allows you to build a rocket ship and explore the moon.
There, players will be able to traverse a new cave system, encounter new crops and alien fish types, as well as contend with what the creator dubs a “challenging” new farming area.
Here’s every main feature ‘To The Moon’ adds to the game:
Nullnnow via NexusModsFour new winter cropsA crystal fruit bushOne new winter fruit treeOne new mushroom treeRadiation shieldsA mini-teleporter to ship items from the moonA specialised furnaceThree new fish (one of which is legendary)Several new monstersNew oresThree new cooking recipesA research systemNew special ordersCheese
The mod also includes “an option to switch to a more science-fantasy [look] as opposed to a more sci-fi experience”, but that particular feature remains a work in progress.
When you’re on the moon, the location will operate as if it’s always winter but the mod’s creator notes that you can grow crops from other seasons as well as speed up the growth of winter crops by using those aforementioned radiation shields.
Items that produce fire cannot be placed on the moon, and you can find a full list of items that fall into that category on the mod’s listing page.
You’ll need to don the space helmet during your travels so you don’t go blind or grow nauseous, plus the space boots will come in handy, otherwise you face a slow movement debuff.
Find those elements of the mod frustrating? They can be disabled in this creation’s settings.

To unlock the rocket ship required to activate the mod, you’ll need to complete the Community Centre or JojaMart route. You’ll then get a letter from Maru asking you to visit the town square.
It all sounds very promising – and there are more new features on the way.
Creator Nullnnow is working on an area for custom NPCs, more alien flora and fauna, more fish, more ingots, the addition of glowing trees, a revamped research system including a research journal, new dialogue, and a new questing system.
With that in mind, this mod is both one to dive into now and one to watch out for in the future.
It’s already gone down well with players who have downloaded it.
“So cool,” one remarked, “It’s been fun watching the development of this and it’s very cool to see it finally published!!”
If you feel the same way, ‘To The Moon’ is yours to download and enjoy now.
