Minecraft’s latest drop, Wilderness Bound, invites you to launch expeditions into our rustic fall-flavored biome, the dappled forest. Based on your treks, you could probably describe what your autumnal adventures look like. But what do they sound like? Do they sound like the crisp crunch of fallen leaves underfoot, the crackling of logs on a campfire? Or like hot chocolate (or fashionably fall-flavored latte of your choice) sloshing into a cup? Or… something else entirely? The creaking door of a haunted house, perhaps, or ghostly whispers echoing from some mysterious artifact? The groan of something unearthly rising from the earth on a moonlit night? Fall season is, after all, also spooky season…
Luckily, you won’t have to choose between cozy and spooky sounds. You can have both! Hooray!
Sound effect packs give you the leeway to customize the sounds of your world. Packs range from silly to serious, so whether you want your worlds to sound like old-school arcade games or want to add realistic horror ambience, there’s something for everybody. Sound effect packs can be purchased from Minecraft Marketplace and launch fully on November 10th. But Mojang is giving you a chance to try a pack already and imbue your worlds with the cozy-spooky spirit of fall… for free!
That’s right! Presenting: the free fall-themed sound effect pack Wilderness Bound: Haunts & Harvests by Mush Co.. This pack toes the line between cozy and creepy like a trapeze artist: the sound of the wind in the dappled forest is amplified, making the leaves ruffle; doors and chests creak in a way that is a little unnerving; twigs snap, owls coo, and the occasional toad croaks. And night mobs? Expect heightened cackling and unapologetically zombie-like zombie sounds. Cozy, spooky, and most definitively fall season.
Add these sounds to your world today – and look out for more sounds effect packs coming your way November 10th!
