Palworld Switch 2 Version Is Something Pocketpair Wants to Discuss

Palworld has spread considerably since its explosive 2024 debut, but one major console family remains absent from Pocketpair‘s plans so far.

That could eventually change. Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe says the developer would be interested in discussing a Nintendo Switch 2 version of its open-world survival game, although no port has been announced or confirmed.

Speaking in a recent interview with VGC, Mizobe praised Nintendo’s latest hardware as an impressive platform globally and particularly within Japan. Should an opportunity arise to consider bringing Palworld to Nintendo hardware, he said Pocketpair would “love to have those conversations”.

Nintendo Switch Was Previously a Technical Challenge

Pocketpair’s attitude towards Nintendo hardware has shifted considerably since Palworld first became a breakout hit. Back in 2024, Mizobe acknowledged that bringing the game to the original Nintendpo Switch could prove difficult because its technical requirements exceeded what the ageing hardware could comfortably provide.

Pocketpair Communications Director John Buckley later described Palworld as a demanding game, while suggesting Switch 2 would be worth considering if Nintendo’s newer hardware proved capable enough. The Switch 2 has since demonstrated that it can accommodate considerably more technically demanding current-generation releases, making the prospect more realistic than it was on its predecessor.

Palworld Switch 2 Version Is Something Pocketpair Wants to Discuss

That still does not mean Pocketpair has begun porting Palworld, however, and Mizobe’s latest comments are best understood as interest in opening discussions rather than confirmation that development is underway. Palworld itself has also moved well beyond the Early Access game Pocketpair was discussing in 2024. Version 1.0 launched in July, while the wider IP has continued expanding through projects including its trading card game, Palfarm and a separate mobile project built around the Palworld universe.

Nintendo’s Lawsuit Remains Ongoing

There is also an unavoidable complication surrounding any potential Nintendo release. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair in September 2024. The case remains active before the Tokyo District Court, although its scope has changed as proceedings have continued.

Pocketpair has made several changes to Palworld during the dispute, including removing mechanics challenged as part of the case. VGC reports that the lawsuit was amended in November 2025 to focus on older versions of the game, with the Tokyo District Court expected to disclose its preliminary view on November 9.

Mizobe was unable to discuss the dispute during the interview because proceedings remain ongoing. It is therefore unclear what impact, if any, the lawsuit would ultimately have on a potential Switch 2 release.

For now, Palworld remains available across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Mac, with Nintendo players still outside the Palpagos Islands. Pocketpair at least appears considerably more open to changing that than it did during the original Switch generation.
