Stardew Valley’s next major update could be its biggest yet, with creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone reportedly suggesting that version 1.7 will arrive sometime in 2027.
According to Automaton, Barone discussed the update during the Symphony of Seasons concert at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on 25 October. The report describes the previously revealed marriage candidates, Clint and Sandy, as only a small part of what’s coming.
Automaton links to an audience recording shared by Reddit user brybell as its source for the remarks. The reported 2027 timing is tentative, rather than a dated release announcement.
There is firmer detail in Barone’s own written updates. In his official tenth-anniversary Steam post, he confirmed that players will be able to marry Clint and Sandy, and explained that 1.7 aims to deepen parts of the game without piling on additional systems.
“More depth, but not necessarily more complexity,” he wrote.
That gives some context to the promise of a larger update. More content doesn’t necessarily mean a more complicated farming routine: Barone’s stated goal is to develop areas that currently feel lacking.
He has also addressed how continued Stardew development affects Haunted Chocolatier. In a September 2025 blog post, he said a small team helps with Stardew’s updates, while he has been taking more of a creative-director role on 1.7.
Asked whether the update would make Haunted Chocolatier take longer, his answer was qualified:
“Maybe a little, but not as much as you might think.”
He explained that some work still needs his personal attention, including music, and that his involvement could change as development progresses. That is more cautious than saying the two projects have no effect on each other.
For now, the confirmed additions include two new marriage options. The broader feature list, exact release date and platform rollout remain to be detailed; the concert report offers an indication of ambition rather than a finished set of patch notes.
