How much lead poisoning would Terraria’s Ironskin Potion give you?

  1. I'm sure there are other health issues related to ingesting 800kg of lead, though.
Even disregarding the massive quantities that videogame logic gives us, any amount of lead is dangerous, and as such drinking a potion containing lead is generally a very bad idea. Any potion whose main ingredient is LEAD would probably kill you even in reasonable quantities

  2. 1 thing that kinda bugs me about the bar conversion is the decorative sprite seems to be at least 3 bars but more likely 4 stacked in a cube shape. meaning the ironskin potion only contains 4750x the lethal dose of lead. doesnt really change much though youre still dead as hell

  3. Well it’s called the ironSKIN potion, what if the potion is more literal than we think and actually just uses all that lead to cover the outside of the terrarian’s body, and leaves nothing inside?

  4. Looking at what little stuff I could find about lethal doses, despite this being Terraria numbers and as such comically large with respect to normal reality and both being well past even the guaranteed death line, if we're talking immediate short-term toxicity, iron is worse, with only about a quarter of the soluble iron needed to kill a person outright than the soluble lead needed. That being said, lead has many effects above and beyond "will drinking this kill me" that make it the significantly nastier substance to get into your body.

  5. It is called IRONskin for a reason. Otherwise, it would be Leadskin Potion. This was just added to the game to make it fair for a player in a world that was generated with Lead ore instead of Iron.

  6. Ok so even just looking at the weight alone it would seem obvious that the Terrarian doesn't use the full 800kg piece of ore in their potion, but instead crushes it into a powder to add to the potion (discarding the rest because it doesn't form a whole ore) but even with these much lower amounts (even those below a KG) it would seem very likely that the Terrarian is ingesting lethal doses of lead.

  7. can you do the math for "regular" sized bar? Sure, when you place it its 2x2x2ft but its far too much for a bar of anything. According to some random website found on google shop lead bar is usually 0.53×1.0x12.0in

  8. Drinking a potion consumes it leaving nothing behind, which implies you also crunch and swallow the entire glass bottle in less than half a second

  9. the block depicts 3 bars of lead, one facing sideways and two facing the camera. this is done to make it obvious when placed what it is and could be interpreted as an artistic liberty. With the assumption that only one of these bars are actually used we can calculate that since one side is 1 block wide and the other is half that, a lead bar is 2ft * 1ft * 1ft for a total of 2 cubic feet or 642.25 kilograms for one bar or 214 kilograms for a lead ore. still double the terrarian's body weight but 4 times less (that is if you go along with this assumption)

  10. What if ironskin potions are made like stone soup?
Where you put a stone in the soup to allegedly disperse minerals!
That way, you'd make the potions using daybloom and water as usual, but would let the lead ore hang out to give some kind of extra properties to the potion!

Plus, this is lead ore we're talking about! What if what we need isn't the lead but something that usually is associated to it or maybe a result of its oxidation or a result of its reaction with the chemical composition of a daybloom solution?

  11. Obsidian skin potion (obsidian)
    Spelunker potion (gold ore)
    Inferno potion (literal fire fish)
Flask of fire (a piece of lava oozing stone).
All the magic related potion (literal star)
    Crate potion (amber)

  12. Not to mention that one tiny vial is over 800kg. Given that the Terrarian chugs it, all that weight being applied at once would probably just crush their internal organs before the lead poisoning even has a chance to kick in it.

  13. So this means that most of Terraria is not actually happening and the terrarian is deathly ill, hallucinating their journey to defeat the moon lord

  14. Now spelunker potion , why we don t die from the gold platinum in it ? And the crystals in super healing potions are sketchy to say the least
