It's kinda funny how in hindsight like all the signs pointing to Dream's awful behaviour were just there all along. Everyone just brushed off him being weirdly adamant about not condemning his psycho stans, him being a huge weirdo and/or an asshole to people like Tommy and TechnoDad, and the sus speedruns presented as real. Even people who didn't like him didn't even really pay attention to that stuff until years later
