I love how the name tag update ties into the "variants" updates that we've had recently.
MCpatcher, optifine and CITresewn are the mods that brought the rename textures to mc
Full support for connected textures would a good next step. Optifine probably held back development of these features. But I think they are more on the table as Optifine has lost its monopoly.

The potion texture pack looks terrible. Edit: All of the "different enchanted book" texture packs I have ever seen look terrible too so I hope they dont.

It is a pity that this function that works through the anvil to change items or blocks textures, no matter in 3D or 2D or in gif or in flat format by nickname, exists only in Minecraft Java, before it was in optifine, but now in Java it remains to be added for bedrock.
It could be saying, they are removing the bow, but I doubt it

The support for differentiating from different book enchants wasn't in this snapshot unfortunately, but when asked they did say they were working on it, so maybe next snapshot we'll at least be able to use resourcepacks to do it ourselves, like with the potions.
I always had to wait for the Optifine update in the past, but since I upgraded to an Nvidia Geforce RX 4050, I can finally play vanilla Minecraft. It's a shame that a game with such grainy textures and absolute lack of raytracing would need a high end GPU, but I'm glad that I am now able to play the most recent releases without waiting for optifine to render it playable.
