honestly mediumcore exists as a stepping stone to hardcore, dying is inconvienent but not run ending whilst hardcore is blatantly run ending. it's simply a difficulty slider and i don't know why people cry so hard about it cause it is literally just medium difficulty in terms of death punishment.
i'm not one to say skill issue but if grinding is that much of a punishment then hardcore should be WAY more hated because you don't even have the supplies in your base to fall back on. also if you're quitting the game over it stop being a pussy about difficulty settings, nobody is going to think less of you for playing easy mode in a singleplayer game.
I don't understand why hardcore isn't hated more. Medium core makes dying consequential but doesn't end the run like hardcore. It seems like people would rather restart than learn from mistakes.
If Mediumcore had a money cost to dying that scaled throughout the game and some kind of punishment for when you didn't have enough money to pay it like respawning instead with 1/4 hp until you have the money to manage the cost of death again, then Medium core would have a point to it. It would truly be a "medium" difficulty between "Softcore" aka Classic and Hardcore perma-death. As it is Mediumcore is just a pointless mode. I wouldn't say I "hate" it but I've never touched it once because if I wanted to play a punishing game mode where my deaths mattered then I would play Hardcore and focus the fuck up and tryhard. It's just a placebo difficulty mode. No actual difficulty increase, you don't actually permanently lose anything nor is there a cost for death.
I started playing mediumcore in the For the worthy seed, I did lost all my items after I got killed by a boulder but, I didn't rage quit and still keep going until I finish the whole playthrough.
im playing my first master mode playthrough, in softcore ofc, & i usually keep all my stuff, & as sorbetcafe; the terraria youtuber has said: it's not that bad if done right, & does provide a unique experience, & I could see myself enjoying it given my current playstyle, but on the otherhand- it really is so different and frustrating in the wrong circumstances lmao, i kinda like the idea of it being minecrafty in maybe a multiplayer setting-? but still it has been so frustrating every time i've tried it lol
I find mediumcore is a lot more fun when you take it slow, prepare for the worst, and hoard everything you find Being careful lets you avoid a lot of deaths, hoarding everything means you always have backup gear, and being prepared lets you get your items faster and more easily Carelessly speeding through the game on mediumcore is an absolute nightmare, no question about it, so it's definitely not the gamemode for everyone
Sorbert Cafes video on medium core felt more substantive. That video made me see mediumcore for more than I thought it was and made me reevaluate how I felt about it and maybe considering playing it in the future. This video just kind of reinforces my initial perspective of it which is what I imagine it is for most people
I hate how sometimes my items either disappear completely or duplicate every single one lol. Happened a few times and in a way it kinda ruined our multiplayer world.
0:38 It's still thrilling, it's good for people who want something thrilling but without the consequence of loosing hours. Instead you spend your time doing something interesting and keep all of your world progress 0:42 The 'inconvenience' can be an interesting challenge of using suboptimal gear which you wouldn't normally use 1:05 Worst case scenario you downgrade to your previous gear and have to remake the gear that you lost, but its really not that difficult to get your stuff back. Most of the time you're fighting the same environment that you faced before you had your optimal gear 1:16 You have incentive to avoid risks, but not to the extreme, it trains you to know what you can and can't do which makes you a better player 1:28 It's not just about what's the best challenge, medium-core is a unique concept, it forces you to play in ways you wouldn't normally, similar to a challenge run 1:50 Not really, Minecraft has a time limit to get your stuff back and it can be much further away. If you were to loose everything in Minecraft, that's most of your progress gone. With terraria a lot of your progress is saved in the form of max life, pylons networks, NPCs and already unlocked things like hard-mode ores 2:03 Like you said, medium-core is optional so I don't know what these people are complaining about 2:44 I don't know why you think you'll never get the hang of it, In my opinion it's the best game mode to improve your skills
Doing a realistic playthrough with the overhaul mod and enhance graphics, master mode on a mediumcore character. Absolute hell. Though, it has made me be more cautious and strategize more carefully and effectively.
its actually worse than hardcore because when you die instead of suffering ending you need to try to get back your items for it to even have a chance to be playable once again or get stuck in infinet loop to never progress again. honestly its like expert mode. a mode thats right in the midle but is actually worst because of some reason
I just think it isn't hard Just the most frustrating thing ever due to how it was done. Just make the items get put into the gravestone and make so they get organized the way you organized then it would make it far more playable since I don't have to worry about the items despawning.
i just recently started a mediumcore run and i can definitely agree that its very annoying when i die and have to struggle to get my stuff back but the entire reason i started it in the first place is because i find myself dying too much cuz i kinda suck so i want a compelling reason to push me to take things slower and die less which would help me improve at the game by simply surviving

this is a great video I was shocked that you only have 991 subs and you actually got me to do more than breathe out of my nose

I don't understand those reddit threads. If mediumcore sucks, just… don't play it? I don't understand why they are so upset.

I agree that mediumcore is pointless and tedious. I started hardcore and it feels way better because it requires way more creativity than mediumcore.

i just had to subscribe after seeing 999 subs
GG on 1k (i was your 1,000 sub)

I didn’t like it at first but it was challenging. I learned to do it and I wasn’t sorry, I just had to be more careful and plan things.

If you don't sell your old items, mediumcore is sometimes fun.

Terraria players would rather die permanently than use backup loot.
This is self deprecating humor.
Sorbet Cafe had already made a video on that. Long story short mediumcore is not a more challenging softcore – it's a more casual hardcore.
Wait, terraria flew the pride stuff? Well, I cannot support it monetarily anymore.
I just think it isn't hard

I have played exclusively medium core for the last 6 years
