The Hidden Potential in the 1.4.5 Update

Terraria’s final update, 1.4.5 could be coming out any time. The 1.4.5 update might be the final one [as if] so lets take a moment and theorize about the potentially hidden potential of some of the spoilers we have seen thus far.

  1. Hidden potential of 1.4.5 is that re-logic can hopefully work on a new game. Hopefully. I like relogic as developers but I would rather see something new from them instead of 90% cosmetic, 5% relevant gameplay and 5% bugfixes/balance change updates.
And yes I am still salty about otherworld.

  2. A lot of what you did in this video was speculating on how the new items will function, often at a very surface level. The complete moon lord set might have a set bonus? No way! The mount specifically designed for mobility might be used for its mobility? Wow!

If you want to speculate on item usage, you could've chosen less intuitive examples. How about the poo boulder applying stinky on whatever it hits, which might lead to more things applying stinky in general? You did speculate on what the debuff might do, but the idea was really weak. Maybe the infused fertilizer makes gem trees drop more gems, spawn mushrooms/dye plants on grass, increase herb yield or even multiply planted herbs. Freeze bombs might have a use in lava/honey, which alongside the hardmode ore bombs may imply larger bomb variety or more items at the demolitionists shop. Perhaps the sparkling cobweb item is needed to craft the new yoyo accessory, and if so, it might be a part of other crafting recipes, maybe hardmode variants of gem robes. These are just a few of multiple ideas that aren't "guys the rat transformation that visibly makes you tiny might make you tiny".

Another thing, a big part of this update is directed towards farming. The stress ball, hoppers, unsafe living wood walls, possibly moonglow slimes and the cen-axe pet. Definitely a big thing to look into instead of brushing it aside because you find it silly.

You're better than this Throarbin. The attacking critters and shimmer boulder segments really showed how little research and effort you put into the video. It's a great idea that i'd like to see returning, even though 1.4.5 content is really stale at this point.

  3. Ok, hear me out. A druid class where you're able to shape shift into different animals and have the ability to command animals to attack enemies.

  4. I appreciate the theorycrafting, though a lot of these do rely on assumptions as to how these new features will be implemented. The mouse transformation for example isn't guaranteed to let you use items while transformed, and it's possible that scurrying up walls with it requires you to keep moving; perhaps if you stop moving while moving up a wall you'll simply fall down. I don't see any practicality to the Stress Ball outside of farms and challenge runs; getting an entire accessory and giving up a slot for it isn't going to be worthwhile to just click for you unless you plan on going AFK, and while it isn't confirmed I imagine it'll just auto fire your weapon based on your current mouse position. As for the shimmer boulder, it's seen going through the player in the teaser without damaging them. It likely is a utility and not something that deals damage, given this information.

  5. Another really cool thing about the fairy transformation, what would work even if you can't attack in it, is that, if you're playing multiplayer and your friend died, you can try to survive with the fairy, which probably has a way smaller hitbox.
