I actually did a true melee and sword playthrough. I would like to add the drippler crippler is absolutely amazing and worth the time blood moon fishing. The flairon is another amazing pick because you can get it in the start of hardmode from truffle worm fishing. The frostbrand is a great choice for sword advocates pre mech. The Amazon yoyo is amazing but not as good as the hive five. The Amarok is a great yoyo for its early obtainability and the rye of cthulhu is the best yoyo before moon lord. You have dark Lance which is a nice spear pre hardmode. But nothing beats the terra blade in my heart. Really brings me back. Also vampire knives is busted and tank builds are virtually unkillable with things like the frozen turtle shell/shield beetle or solar armor and brain of confusion or worm scarf and endurance potions and warding and regen buffs
Thorn chakram is better than starfury and flamarang is better than volcano, bladetongue amarok chain guillotines bananarang sergeant united shield drippler crippler among others better than shadow flame knife, death sickle is worse than true Excalibur, true nights edge, reds throw and Valkyrie yoyo

To be honest I find the wooden boomerang to be a slight bit better than the enchanted boomerang for post moon lord

purely preference, but ppl sleep on the dark lance. id say its as good the nights edge, and at the same stage of progression
