MINECRAFT CHASE THE SKIES UPDATE OUT NOW – HAPPY GHAST, LOCATOR BAR, + 100 NEW CHANGES!

oh mama At last the happy ghast update Chase the skies drop It’s here baby Of course it introduces the brand’s new happiest mob of all time But on top of that so much more We’re talking structure updates mob changes new mechanics and even more Waddlers you go on ahead and smash that like button get your blanket and get cozy We’re in for a big one This is everything inside of the brand new Minecraft update Oh and down below comment the best happy gas harness color There’s only one right answer Kicking things off with one of the most banger updates inside of this update the lead It gets way easier to craft You want to get your hands on one of these things to maybe move mobs around or something all you need is five string for two Die in wee mama Oh my gosh these things are so much better now On both Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition the lead is way more lead than ever before So taking a lead and using it on a mob that works just like before but then crouching and using that lead on another mob And just like that now we have two mobs Oh where is that coming from on top of that leads can stretch a little bit longer now Instead of 10 blocks they’ll go 12 blocks before breaking And fence leads are way stronger as well now too Grab yourself a pair of shears walk up to a leashed mob and oh yeah we can unleash the mob Also listen to this brand new sound Squishy And on top of our new leash mechanics well directly tied to them they are smoother than ever before The best way to see this one is when you drag a boat around Well take a look at how this thing turns and moves It’s so much smoother And that’s just the start of it We’ve got updates galore to talk about today For example the happy gas For example example the locator bar on the low This drop is sort of all about the multiplayer And what do you need for multiplayer i guess that’s right a server Enter Wise Hosting the crep when sponsoring this video And now let’s get back to the updates Now for today’s update video we’re taking a look at the 1.21.6 6 Chase the skies drop update on Java If you are Bedrock gang a lot of this stuff will apply to you The update is largely in parody except also it’s not So stay tuned I’ve got a video coming for you soon Bedrock gang Also new update soon baby For today though this will work Now speaking of Java edition two brand new advancements for the first time in a year Our first of these two advancements relates to the winter drop the creaking to life update something like that If we got a pale log and then another pale log and we sandwiched a creaking heart block in between them we’ll get the heart transplant advancement But a much more timely for this drop If we take a look at this new block oh what in the world is it i guess you’ll have to stay tuned to know But if we take this new block and then water log it we get the stay hydrated advancement Oh man And now to kick today’s video off we took a look at a brand new crafting recipe We’ve got another one Don’t get me wrong leads are nice to have but a saddle being craftable Oh that might take the cake Now alongside that nice little saddle update we’ve got a game changer when it comes to well not only saddles but also horse armor If you take a pair of shears inside of this update basically Minecraft’s modern most useful item and walk up to a horse with armor on it well you can shear diamonds now But on top of that you can actually shear saddles Years of speech therapy did not prepare me to be able to say that line Sheer saddles I don’t know why that’s so hard for me to say but yeah you could take a saddle actually off of a pig now a horse or anything else that a saddle can actually go on top of Now my new horse friend and also loyal Waddles channel member you will come with me Because of the dispenser it actually can no longer unequip a saddle inside of this update It will never work Why do they do that the answer to that question I don’t have one for it but I do have a world Hey you remember that saddle change with shearing that we were just talking about well it applies to llamas too You can shear llama carpet now That’s so cool So you know how you tame a horse like you just basically forcibly repeatedly climb on top of it but it doesn’t really like you very much Well carrots have a new ability in this update You can give a horse a bunch of carrots and that will actually make the horse like you a whole lot quicker but also on top of that heal it Or if you had a baby horse you could use carrots to help speed up the growth Nah for this next one we will actually need a co-star today I introduce you to my friend my editor who looks suspiciously like me Huh Brand new to Minecraft inside of this update Wo the XP bar the locator bar as it is now called This bar is going to pop up in your world if there is more than one of you inside of it It’s a multiplayer only functionality Take a look at the locator bar down there While I’m looking at or towards a player we will have a new dot icon that’ll pop up Meanwhile if I look away that dot it disappears from the locator bar If I look down or am below a player there will be an up arrow pointing up If I look up or am above a player then the locator bar will pop up with an arrow indicating that the player is a little bit lower than me If I had a player on the locator bar and I moved far away from that player like we’re talking the first change here will happen once you’re about 100 200 blocks away the dot will actually get a little bit smaller on the locator bar You can see it turn into a circle That’s kind of illegal As I continue to move farther and farther away the dot will continue to get smaller and smaller and smaller until eventually it’s small maxes out Now in a survival setting there are multiple ways in which a player can hide themselves from this bar Check this out If my friend crouches you are gone from the bar and it turns back to XP bar Uncrouch and the bar is back To hide yourself from the locator bar you could also wear any of the mob heads or carved pumpkins Also something like an invisibility potion will be able to hide a player from the locator bar too Every player that pops up in the locator bar will be a different randomized color With that being said though you could actually use the brand new modify command to change the color of the dot if you wanted to Now the devs know that not everybody will necessarily like this new locator bar So great news there’s a new game rule inside of your world Game rule locator bar By default it will be set to true but if you want to you can flip it over to false and the locator bar is just entirely gone You might be wondering about experience Well when you get experience the locator bar disappears for like 5 seconds and then eventually once you stop getting experience it pops back up Another time the locator bar disappears is while you’re inside of an anvil or inside of an enchanting table Locator bar is easily one of the largest parts of this update Inside of the playlist for this update there’s even more breakdowns on the locator bar cuz to be honest there’s so much to it Check it out next Let’s move on Oh boy But this show the happy gas update it’s all about really one mob Our brand new mob begins in a little block Actually it’s called the dry gas block Look at this thing You’re so stressed out and sad If you place this block on soul sand or soul soil well this block Oh you you could hear it The block will actually make these really cool creepy ambient sounds in order to kick yourself off with getting your hands on this block You could either craft it with this crafting recipe right here or you could go ahead and slide yourself over into the Nether And once you’re inside of the Nether go and look for the soul sand valley biome fossils And fingers crossed next to one of them you’ll be able to find this block You can also actually borrow with the piglins for it too But to be honest the odds hey they’re not great Now the point of this block is parenthood Oh my gosh Bring it back over to the overworld Place it inside of water and then wait Over the course of 20 minutes worth of time as you can see here from the green particles this thing will slowly hydrate When submerged in water the black will begin off looking like this Quite sad But after a little bit of time like 5 minutes or so well its appearance will actually start to brighten a little bit A little bit more time later and the black will change to a neutral look And then finally right before this thing is about to hatch if you will it will actually look pretty happy So give this block a little bit of time in the water and it will cheer up a lot After that coming from this block not this giant mob No get out of here Instead you’ll get yourself a brand new Gastling Mom Oh my god look at this mob It’s adorable It’s got a really adorable sounds Oh it sounds like a small baby crying Except sad gas no longer Oh my god it’s happy This is a baby happy gas Now this mob is your first step in parenthood And honestly it’s super advanced For example while it’s a baby even if I’m not holding anything because it is just a small child it likes the idea of following you and other mobs around Like one of the mobs it’ll just follow around if you’re not nearby is actually a chicken It’ll just follow chickens This thing is so funny Actually look at it It’s doing it right now Now at this point we could wait around for 20 minutes and let it grow up Or we could intervene a little bit and feed it a bunch of snowballs If we feed this thing about 64 snowballs usually a little bit less well then instantaneously this thing will actually grow up inside O I’m so sorry They’ll actually grow up pretty much right away into the star of the show for this update Go ahead and do the trick my friend The happy guys Just like that Oh my god Now this thing this is a game changer for Minecraft survival This thing is also crazy advanced like easily most advanced mob the devs have added in years In order to begin to check this thing out and really utilize it though we’re going to want to get our hands on a little bit of leather a little bit of wool some glass and maybe a dye if you’re indecisive as well Inside of the crafting table leather glass and a color of wool Any color something like that and you’ll be able to craft a new harness If you want to change your mind and change the color no big deal Add some dye and you can do that Now with a harness in hand and a grown-up happy gas walk over to it and this mob will look at you It likes the harness You can tempt it with it Use a harness on it and it goes on top of it Now you got to be quick about this The mob likes to fly away pretty much immediately Rob you of a harness and dip But once you have a harness on the happy gas if you can reach the mob snowballs can help you get this mob’s attention Well interact with a happy gas wearing a harness and bam you’re on top of this mob By the way if you want to take the harness off use a pair of shears Now while I’m the happy gas the thing stops moving Instead if you want to move you move Press the forward key to start moving forward Look up to start moving up inside of your world or press jump You can hold jump to go up Ah it’s a flying mob You’ve got to have heard about this one by now You can fly all around your Minecraft world Look down to go down and look wherever to go wherever Oh my god it’s a game changer While you’re flying the Happy Ghast if you go into third person your POV will zoom out I find that it’s so easy and maybe even better to fly the happy gas in third person When you stop flying the happy gas and press the crouch button you’ll get off and be put on top of this thing You could sit on top of the happy gas all day long While flying the happy guest you could fly over to well anything and use a buildable blocks If you can reach the block you can actually build from the happy guest This is a game changer for building inside of your world It’s a little bit different You got to get used to it but wow wee Look at that beautiful tree that I just built the happy gas flying around your world It’s crazy Cool little secret mechanic here Did you know if the happy gas if it takes some damage which by the way you can see its health right there on the hot bar just like with a horse Well if it takes damage fly it in the rain or all the way up to into the clouds and it’ll heal up a little bit faster Now if you’ve seen the Minecraft movie you might remember piglins flying underneath the happy gas You could actually kind of do that as well You could either do this with a boat or just straight up with a mob And if that mob is larger in size and you leash it to a happy gas you will actually get a brand new texture that’ll pop up And look at this thing It is actually flying with a mob down below it You can use this thing to move villagers or mobs all around your world Oh my god this thing is so amazing Now the Happy Gas For additional reading on this mob 20 minutes worth of it Check out the Everything Series episode of the Happy Gas I just dropped it yesterday There’s seriously so much to it including how it breaks the end and even more for today though Next up we move on to a brand new command the dialogue command This dialogue command is super powerful You could use this to add brand new menus By default there are three in game but these are sort of just basically examples If I run the command a new screen will pop up And then right here I have a button that I can interact with This is all data packs up in order to make way stronger cooler data packs with custom menus Brand new music and sound settings have hit Minecraft Java Inside of music and sounds a button number one right there music frequency By default it’ll be default but you can make the music play a little bit more frequently or on a continual loop And music toast If you turn this thing on and have music on oh my god when a new song begins playing you’ll get this toast that’ll actually pop up Pause the game and you can see the name of the song and who made it at any time Also inside of sound settings you got a brand new sound toggle right here UI and they renamed hostile creatures to mobs and friendly to the same Also while exploring and vibing around your world you’ll hear five brand new songs On screen right now you can see the name of all of these five songs They are all by Amos AI They are super good vibes especially O’s piano Oh boy But brain’s new music disc for the first time in like a year as well Take a look at this thing It looks like somebody with blue eyes aka me Oh my god it’s beautiful I get lost in them Now we’re going to have to listen to the whole disc You jump in game and go ahead and hear it yourself But listen real quick Oh man it’s spooky When this thing is put inside of a jukebox with a comparator hooked up to it you will get a redstone signal of 10 coming from this thing Now how in the world do you get it well actually take a fireball hit it back at a gas and when you do that every time the disc will drop on the ground Also speaking of the gas it’s got a brand new texture The texture has basically been like it’s been made like a little bit less detailed if you will It’s in texture pixel parody with all the other mobs Bow mechanics in Minecraft have gotten a slight rework Essentially you are going to be able to be a little bit more accurate with your projectiles now Essentially for the first two seconds of a projectiles flight duration it’s much more accurate Midnight Minecraft Java the Firefly Bush from the Spring to Life drop last update Oh man Mama put this thing down in your world And there are way more fireflies now Oh it’s so much more beautiful Elytra rocket flying has changed This one is a little bit tricky to show off but basically while you are flying if you use a firework rocket on a block like I did right there Well now instead of the firework like being used like a firework it actually gives you a little bit of boost Aka if you’re not careful it’s way easier to boost yourself straight into a block Now inside of this update the horse if you like to use these things you will notice that they are actually way more polished Now for example an old bug when you dismount the horse and then it starts doing its whole bucking thing and kind of stands up on its back legs It doesn’t really do that and get stuck like that anymore Many many structures around your world have had saddles removed from their loot table For example the spawn room the ancient city the desert beer the jungle temple and the stronghold Instead of saddles you’ll be able to find leather in the loot table Oh now one thing you might have noticed today the clouds on Minecraft Java they sure do look a whole lot different right like the shaping of them and how far they go And that’s because they are different Now inside of options video settings we have a brand new cloud toggle all the way down at the bottom It is called cloud distance By default I think it’s raised all the way up but if you lower it this will affect how far the clouds will actually render inside of your world I find that for the best most immersive look make your cloud distance double whatever your render distance is and it looks pretty good But on top of that we’ve got brand new cloud shaping and a little Easter egg If you send yourself over to these coordinates right here and then look up in the sky at those coordinates though if you jump into your world right away and go over to it oh my god Another thing that probably looks a little bit different to you is the world in general That’s because there’s brand new world fog It’s called atmospheric fog And the devs have basically overlay it into Minecraft in order to make your world feel a little bit more real As you can see as things get farther away they get a little bit fogged out Now inside of the rain the fog will actually get a little bit more dense here As the rain sets in we can see that everything gets foggy including your hand in the hot bar A beautiful thing that happens with this fog at sunrise hour if you look towards the sun or sunset oh the whole game like turns a little bit more orange It’s so beautiful Now unfortunately this new fog cannot be disabled There is no setting to remove it Spring to life drop It added some brand new sound ambiance to the game Well now in this drop it’s been refined The sand sounds will play less often And terracotta no longer triggers any ambient sounds Instead if you want to hear these sand sounds well you’re going to want to put the dry grass plant Tall or short dry grass It doesn’t make a difference but place it on two blocks of sand or more and you’ll I mean you’ll get all those windy sounds The dead bush ambient sounds will now also play much more often too Potion calculation Oh my gosh it’s beautiful So in the olden days if you wanted to get potion effect and this is from like a splash potion in every update until right now If you wanted the full duration you needed to throw this thing straight up in the air and have it land on your head Then you would get and only then the full amount of duration Now splash potion strength has been recalculated and reworked Instead of having to throw it up if you throw it straight down on your feet you’ll get the full duration of the potion’s effect How long of a duration you are granted is dependent upon how far you are from the center point of the potion like wherever it lands Oh man sending myself back over to the main menu I maybe should have begun with this one today but kicking off the brains new update error we’ve got a brand new main menu panorama This main menu panorama it’s a nice one We’re inside of like a random biome basically looking at a happy guests all over the place Now internally inside of the game when it comes to technical changes oh my gosh inside of this update there are so many It always seems like the devs are always setting up for more updates But really seriously inside of this update there’s so much technical foundations being foundated And they’ve reworked so many other things here inside of the update It’s actually legitimately insane Some of the work that they’ve laid down inside of this update is to prep for vibrant visuals that are unfortunately not here on Java quite yet Some of the other technical stuff is brand new Some of the other other technical stuff is making the game run smoother Speaking of making the game run smoother also inside of this update approximately 90 individual bug fixes Wow Everything inside of the happy gast drop That’s just about it Now this drop was developed over the course of seven snapshots initially revealed at Minecraft Live Spring 2025 Four pre-release snapshots and one released candidate Now clearly there were a lot of changes that we took a look at today but just the brand new items added to the game well everything inside of this chest is technically brand new Look at that happy gas spawn egg It’s happy Now this
