Conclusion: it's a pseudo-random number that depends on a seed, which comes from the time so there's no randomness in this mini game, game is time-dependent. (Even if we ignore all this mess the video is still wrong because there's an 8-to-3 ratio — meaning the actual chance of death is 26.6%, not 50%.)
