The Perfection Grind | Stardew Valley | Ep 7

Hello everybody, this is Gamergar. Welcome back to another episode of the perfection series. Is it truly possible to get perfection in just one year? We are now entering fall. We are halfway through the challenge. This season is going to be the serious ramp up season. You are going to see some crazy money meds coming over the next couple of weeks. But for now, it’s time for preparation. We just met some advanced furnaces there. They’re going to come in very handy. We’re going to go to Robin and we’re going to upgrade our shed to a big shed that would be filled up to the top with cakes. We’re going to go to Pierre and we are going to purchase all of the fall crops in a fairly decent amount of quantities, but we are going to purchase a huge amount of pumpkin seeds. Pumpkins will be the main money maker that we’re going to use in fall. Now, we do have a lot of wheat planted that we can now harvest. This is going to save us rehoing the ground and also watering the ground. So, it’s a huge time saver. The wheat is probably the best time saver crop in the game. Once we’re finished with all of the wheat, we actually have some plans for this. We will eventually put this into a mill and we will try to turn it into bread to make some serious profits. We also have a level in mastery, so we need to look at that, too. We need to figure out what we’re going to take with the next big upgrade. Once we’re done with the mill, we’re going to start planting our pumpkins. Now, we don’t get all the pumpkins done today. We are going to put thousands upon thousands of pumpkins on this farm. So over the next few days, you’re going to see a big grind when it comes to putting down sprinklers, hauling up the ground, putting down tons of pumpkins. It is going to pay off dramatically. Now, we met 102,000 gold today. It was nice. The majority of this comes from Idium bars. Scott Caverns is still a great place to go, whether it be early game, mid game, or late game. It’s a nice chunk of money. We can use that to get more pumpkins. Today was raining, which was great. We’re going to collect our wheat flour. We got 961 pieces there. We will turn that into bread for extra profit. Bread is a recipe you can get from Gus. It is very cheap and it’s one of those things you should absolutely do if you have a mill and if you are growing wheat. Now, we are going to reho the ground here because lots of hoing spots did appear. We just didn’t have enough time to get the pumpkins done yesterday. We’re now going to do some fishing today. And what we just pulled up here was an anchovi. We need this for the health wanted quest because we also have to think about game completion. Now, a lot of the NPCs, we have eight out of eight hearts, which is great. And the NPCs you can’t marry that go up to 10 hearts. We’re making great progress there as well. Because it’s fall, we can take on the community quests. There’s no point doing Gus’s famous omn because it will not give us a recipe. So, we’re going to take the meat’s quest because once we complete that, we’ll get the recipe for the fart computer. And the more recipes we get, the less perfection waiverss we’re going to have to buy at the end of this challenge. Once we make all this bread, we make a lot. We’re going to sell that. We’re actually going to get a lot of money for that. We’re going to get well over 50,000 gold for that bread. We’re going to check out the quick quest as well. So, we have Keys Cuisine and we have Keys Hungry Challenge. There’s no point doing the cuisine right now cuz we just don’t have the food to do it. Even with the bread, it wouldn’t have been enough. So, we’re going to take the hungry challenge. That means we need to go back into the skull caverns. We’re giving Pam more gifts today. We almost have Pam maxed out, which is great. Tomorrow is also a rainy day, which makes it very handy for us to just ho up the ground and put down crops. But even if it wasn’t raining, we would still have more than enough time to get two full batches of pumpkins planted and harvested. Now, Pierre was gone to Ginger Island today, so instead we had to deal with the automated counter, which was fine. We sold the bread. That put us up to over 200,000 gold. Now, we are going to purchase an absolute ton of pumpkin seeds today. We’re going to get two full stacks. That’s almost totally 2,000 pumpkins. So, it’s going to be a serious grinder to get the farm set up with this. So, we’re going to have to reho the ground here. Now, look, we have the copper hoe. It’s not bad, but it will take us more or less the whole day to get this done. But it’s necessary if we want to get perfection in year one because despite the fact that a lot of it’s going to come down to game completion, you have to think about the golden clock. You have to think about the four warp obisks. We also have to think about the perfection waivers. We don’t know how many of those we’re going to need. And each one costs 500,000 gold. And that only gives you 1% towards the 100% that we need. So money is really going to be the make it or break it when it comes to getting perfection in year one. Though obviously I would like to get as much natural progression as possible. We’ll know at the end of this season if we need to buy waiverss or not. We’ll have a very good indication anyway. So the parrots just set up a house there for Leo, which was nice. Leo will now move over to the valley and we’ll see him wandering around the place from time to time. We’re going to use mega bombs today to ho up the rest of the ground. And we are going to put arithm sprinklers all over this place. And this is what I love about mega bombs and regular bombs. You have to be very careful with them though. You don’t want to be hitting your scarecrows or your sprinklers or your crops with these. But once you know or once you have a very good estimate of their explosive range, they can be an extremely effective tool at hoing up huge portions of your land, saving you huge amounts of time to get everything hoed up to get the crops planted. So, we are going to go ahead now. We’re going to use the hoe to fill in the gaps. Once this is done, we’re going to take our time, put down the sprinklers the right way, and then we’re going to put down even more pumpkins. Because we had so many battery packs, so many gold bars, and so much rodium bars, it was quite easy to make all of these lovely aridium quality sprinklers. Once all of the sprinklers have been set up, it’s going to be putting down all of these lovely pumpkins. Now, it does take a good few in-game hours to get all these pumpkins down, but it is so going to be worth it. We’re not going to be putting these pumpkins into cakes. or preserve jars or nothing like that. We’re just going to be selling the pumpkins raw. The kegs will only be used for starf fruit. We’re going to make some flute blocks today. We need to bring those back to Ginger Island to complete the mermaid puzzle. We’re also going to make a drum block because it needs to be made anyway to craft all the items in the game. We’re now going to pop a warp totem. We’re going to go to Ginger Island. We just got the amethyst there, which is the South Gambert. Once we completed the mermaid puzzle, we got five more golden walnuts in the bag. We’re now going to talk to the raccoon. And the raccoon wants a smoked bullhead and five clams. That’ll be fairly simple to do. It was now time to enter the mastery cave. I was trying to figure out what mastery would best facilitate us in terms of getting perfection in year 1. I decided to go with the fishing mastery. There’s a few reasons for this. There’s a good chance we may get the extended family quest which means we can start pulling up legend twos. Having an advanced aridium rod makes that way more convenient. I was going to go with the combat mastery. I said no. I would leave it off for now. I’ll wait until I get better rings, better gear. Fishing mastery all the way for more money. So, we just picked up some milk here and some goats milk. We’re going to turn that into goats cheese and regular cheese. It just means we can seal it off for the shipping pin collection. We got another rare event tonight. A fairy has come on and that fairy is going to buff our crops up. It just means that we can harvest these pumpkins and other crops much earlier than anticipated. We’re actually going to leave most of the crops alone because it just means then that I have to replant them and everything then will be out of sync. After picking up another helantic quest, we’re going to go to the Georgia Mart. We’re going to purchase a Georgia cola. The reason for that is just to complete the helped quest. We’re now going to visit Marcelo, have a look at these books because we had 57,000 gold. Now is actually a good time to get Way of the Wind part one and Way of the Wind part two just to make our character that little bit faster because when it comes to going from A to B in this game, the faster we can get to places, the more time we have to do things to accumulate resources. The Queen of Sauce cookbook is something we will pick up eventually to unlock all of the Queen of Sauce recipes. We can’t get it now because we simply can’t afford it. But not to worry, we will have more opportunities to talk to Marcelo before the year is finished. So, we just maxed out Haley there, which is nice. It’s nice to see another eight out of eight hearts done with Haley. We’re going to do some fishing for the rest of the day because to get one of the star drops needed for perfection, we need to capture all the fish in the game. I just wanted to show this treasure chest I got. I mean, just look at the contents. A broken trident and Neptune’s cla mystery box. If only it was the fourth of spring and not the fourth of fall, we would have been in our absolute element when it comes to Corded to the Minds of T number five. I never got such a treasure box before with two extremely rare weapons inside. I decided to experiment with the challenge bait. I picked some up inside of a treasure chest and every time we get a perfect catch, we pick up three of that fish, which was really nice and it just means a lot greater money for us. Now, the main reason we’re doing this is because we want to complete the beaches’s quest as well for bio balance. We had to go and pull up a ton of lakefish and we just got that done right there as well. We will keep all of the aridium commodity chubs, but the star value fair is going to come up. Also, the great thing about doing the community quest is that you get a price ticket for completing them. So, it just means one more price ticket in the bag for us. We just got the ruby there, too, for the north gem bird because we already had three of the four gems. It was fairly easy to guess what the last gem might be, and that was three more golden walnuts for us. So, we’re actually very close now to getting all of the golden walnuts, but it’s not actually possible to get all of them in year one. Eventually, we will have to use the Georgia Parrot to get the rest of them because if we want to obtain perfection, we need to find all of the golden walnuts. So, we’re going to get Clint to break open all of these omni geodess. We’re doing very well in terms of donating minerals into Gunther. There’s actually a handful of minerals that we need. One mineral in particular is the nectonite. We really really need that mineral to complete the mineral collection. Every couple of days we are going to the quarry. We haven’t forgotten about this place. We are collecting our oak resins. We actually have a fierce amount of oak resins accumulated now and they’re inside a chest waiting to be turned into cakes. We also whack the trees occasionally as well just to get more moss because we still need huge amounts of moss to make a lot of the 1.6 items in this game. Using the prize tickets, we get some mystery boxes and we get a decoration. But if you look closely, two more prize tickets, we will get ourselves another star drop tea. The star drop te’s are still essential when it comes to making sure we max out all of the Star Valley NPCs in just one year. So, we just completed one of the raccoon quest lines there. We got some broccoli seeds. We will put those straight on the farm. We’re going to sell Marilyn items that we just don’t need anymore. Bringing our gold up to 11,000. Taking a look at the monster eradication goals, we’re over halfway there with the slimes. We need to do some work with divide spirits. We’re also over halfway there with the dust sprites. So, we will put a lot more work into the dust sprites over this cover the days as well. If we take a look at the advanced monsters, the mummies, the pepper X’s, the serpents, the magma sprites. We have some figures up, but there’s still a ways to go. The vampire ring will come in very handy for Keys Hungry Challenge. There is a chance that may activate and it could give us some health to state enemies. We just pulled up the midnight cart tonight as well, which was needed for the fishing collection. And because we were in fall, we could go ahead and we could fight the legendary fish of this season, Angler. The angller is one of the easier legendary catches. We’re now going to visit the desert trader. We’re going to trade in three prismatic shards for a magic rock candy, and that is one of the most powerful buff boots you can get in this game. While we’re here, we might as well pick up all of the cactus fruit and the coconuts. We are going to do a skull cavern run today. Okay, so we’re going to select the perk there from dwarf statue and that is plus one ore perane. It’s Elliot’s birthday as well. So, we took a warp totem to the beach. We give Elliot a gift. That’s Elliot maxed out. Happy days. We’re then going to use a warp totem and that’s going to bring us to the desert straight into the skull caverns. It is time to get down to floor 100 to grab some key gems. If we’re struggling with health, occasionally the giant purple blobs will have hearts inside them. We can kill them to get 10 HP back. Now, the shafts are double-edged swords because if we fall down the shafts, we will take damage to our HP. So, we have to be very careful. Now, to be perfectly honest with you, I do take every single shaft that I see, you know, because I’m very confident now in my combat abilities regardless of what kind of enemy I come across. I do prioritize a lot of the purple blobs when I see them, though, just to get some points back up on the health. Now, we got some treasure floor rooms today. We got 10 bombs there and that. That’s nice. There’s always a need for bombs. Every time I got attacked by a serpent or a slime, every single swing of my sword, I knew it would take me closer to perfection. And that’s how I looked at all these encounters. You know, every time I saw serpents, I said, “Well, you know what? We might as well kill them now because eventually the time will come where we have to wipe out 250 of them to complete a monster eradication goal.” So, I did take my time on some floors and I did wipe out some monsters. It wasn’t just rush, rush, rush, get down to floor 100. We had all day to do it. I also had some staircases as backup as well. Eventually, we do get down to floor 100. Now, I don’t have recordings after floor 100 because my software, my recording software decided to just stop working after an update that it got, but there wasn’t a whole lot left in today anyway, and it was just a few more floors, a few more pieces of rudomores and just things like that. It was now the 6th of fall. We were still in the first week of the challenge, and progress was looking pretty good. So, we started today by collecting some crops and we’re going to ship a lot of these off for the shipment in collection. We will keep some for the recipes that we’re going to cook up later on. We picked up cheese as well as a goat’s cheese. We’re going to sell those as well. And we’re now going to smelt up some bars. We’re going to get lots of copper bars and we’re going to get iron bars. We need these along with wood and some oak resin to make some kegs. We’re now going into the greenhouse, which is still fairly empty at the moment, but don’t you worry, that greenhouse eventually will be filled up to the gills with starf fruit. So, we’re giving Clint some gifts today and we’re also going to talk to Mary Lewis as well. We have him on six out of 10 hearts, which a lot of more work into Mary Lewis. We’re going to get Clint to process some geodess. And fingers crossed, we are going to get the Neptunite today. We got Clint to break open one magma geode. And look what popped out. The Neptunite. I was so happy when this happened. That means I could turn the rest of those omni geodess into treasure troves and we can now focus on artifact collection. So, it was nice to finally get all of the minerals done. And that is the page showcasing all of the minerals that have been donated to Gunther. There’s a ways to go with the artifacts. We have a lot of tough ones already gotten. And when I say tough ones, I mean ones you can’t get from artifact troves. It was time to head into our big shed and fill it up with kegs. The only thing holding us back right now, believe it or not, was wood. We need to go and accumulate a lot more wood so we can make a lot more kegs, but we will get there eventually. It’s also worth noting too that Robin sells wood at a very very cheap rate in year one. It exponentially increases in year number two. So if we get really stuck later on in terms of outputting a certain amount of wine every couple of days, we can always turn to Robin and invest in some wood there. So we’re going to go to Emily, give her a couple of things. We now have her up on six out of eight hearts. We are now entering the volcano dungeon. Now there is a monster eradication goal inside here. It’s magma sprites and magma sparkers. I believe you have to kill something like 150 of them. So, it is important that we come in here occasionally, especially in fall, and start accumulating a kill count for them. Picking up the hot Java ring was an absolute game changer. To top it all off, we also grabbed the diamond hunter. It just means when we pickaxe open a regular node, there’s a chance a diamond may pop out. We also purchased some recipes off dwarf there as well, because we need all those for perfection. We met 161,000 gold today. Now, most of that came from more Aridium bars that we have been accumulating by Doom Skull Cavern runs. The Aridium bars are just coming in so handy. Now, look, you’re not going to get your warp obelisks or your gold clock with aridium bars, but they serve as an excellent stepping stone to get those things later on. Now, we are going to go up to the summit today and we’re going to combine some rings. I made another aridium band that’s going to be combined with the lucky ring and we’re going to combine a second aridium band with the hot Java ring. We now have a very nice interesting ring setup there because with the two bands we have really good magnetism as well. We’re going to put three rubies into this gig sword, increasing its attack power. It just means a few less swings to wipe out enemies. We’re now going back into the mid level of the regular mines, farming up plus sprites and stems, but now it’s a little bit more fun because these lovely little sprites are dropping coffee drinks. They’re dropping coal, they’re dropping coffee, they’re dropping triple shot espressos. It’s just a wonderful enemy to farm up. Now, once we get kill for those sprites done, we will get the burglar ring and that means monsters will drop more loot and that is going to be a magnificent addition to our combat setup. Eventually, we’re going to be running around the place with a parrot, the hot jabber ring, the burglar ring, and every time we kill monsters, all sorts of stuff is just going to fly out of them. It’s going to be great for us once we unlock the monster musk. Hopefully, if we can get the monster sooner rather than later, that will dramatically increase the spawn rates of monsters in every floor, we’ll be able to get some serious loot off these enemies. And all that loot, of course, can be sold for huge amounts of money. And all that money does help. We still need lots and lots of money to get a lot of things done in this game. We just completed the monster eradication goal there for dust sprites. I was so happy. We spent so much time going into the mines to get that done. I wiped out some skeletons before I passed out. And it was time for another minute quest. Fragments of the past. We’ll get the bone mill by doing this quest. We just need some bone shards. Now, normally you can do this quest very quickly by going to the dick cycle because we need it. Monster eradication goes for the skeletons. And because they also dropped both fragments, I decided to start by farming up skellies. It just means of hitting two birds with the one stone. And of course, if we see slimes, every single slime will also help towards getting that 1,000 slime a kill count. Now, we’re going to get some things here. The burglar ring, of course, is really nice. We’ll leave everything else. We’ll collect those eventually and we’ll sell them on. The insect head, it’s a beautiful weapon, but at this moment in time, we just have way better gear. That burglar ring though is a game changer. I actually swapped out my aridium band and my lucky ring combination for the burglar ring for now because enemies are dropping more loot. It just means more money for me. We don’t really need the luck right now. We don’t need the attack boost or the magnetism. We just got the mazer eradication going there for the skeletons. So again, really good progress this week. We went back to Ginger Island and we repaired up the shop. We need this shop because it sells us some recipes that we get later on that we need to make to get perfection. We also got the rest of the boat fragments on the dig site and we picked up three dark skull that we can also hand in to Gunther. While I was here, I decided to go ahead and fish up that lovely stingray because we need that for the fishing collection. It was then time to check out the keys quests. Unfortunately, we didn’t get extended family. We had a choice of the invasion and the four precious stones. I went with the skull cavern invasion because we can get monster eradication goes with that as well. We are going to purchase the magic bait recipe though along with some magic bait itself. We can use that magic bait to capture all of the fish easily in fall so we don’t have to worry about it in winter. We just fish up the line fish there as well. So, we’re going to hand in the bone fragments to Gunther that completed fragments of the past 3500 gold in the bag. More importantly, the recipe for the bone mill the next day. Now, for the rest of the evening, we’re using our magic bait to get all different manner of fish you normally wouldn’t get in fall. The bone mill was acquired the next day. We’ll make one of those eventually. I made 90 more pieces of magic bait. We are going to do some serious fishing today. But first, let’s get our lovely rabbit’s feet along with lots of eggs. We’re going to sell all the eggs. Now, a lot of you might say, why not make mayonnaise with those? I just didn’t want to use up the resources for it. I just didn’t think it was worth the time to be honest. I’m just selling everything raw. I have some large goats milk and large regular milk. So, I can actually sell those as well for the shipping bin connection. I also made an oil maker here, too. So, I’m going to put a truffle into that to get back some truffle oil. We also need that for the shipping collection. We’re going to pick up the berry basket for Lionus. Give Emily a carp for the help wanted quest. That’s Emily almost maxed out. Another prize ticket for us. I gave Emily a rabbit’s foot as well, just to get the extra friendship points. We’re now going to go to Mir Lewis’s ticket machine. And we finally get our star drop tea. Very nice indeed. We also put up the spook fish as well, the puffer fish, the sea cucumber. We need all of these for the fishing collection. And we got the blobfish also. When all those fish were accumulated, it was then off down to the Cindap forest. And we had a big ferocious battle here with the glacier fish. In my opinion, I know I said it all the time, but it’s so true. It is the hardest legendary fish of the whole lot of them. Thankfully, it’s not worth the most. The legend is worth the most. I also went to the waterfall and I picked up the goi here as well. went into the secret woods, picked up the wood skip, and then it was back into the mastery cave. What are we going to choose? The combat mastery, of course. It’s time to unlock the power of the trinkets. It was up to the witch’s layer, and we pulled up the void salmon. After that, it was down into the mines. We grabbed the stonefish along with the ice pip and the ghost fish. We already had the lav eel, so we didn’t have to go to floor 100. We also picked up the dorado. We also got the link cod, the walleye, and we picked up the perch. Thank God for this magic bait. When we got the tiger trout, we finally got the master angler achievement. And that’s how quickly you can actually capture all the fish in the game. One or two days, 3 days maybe, and you’re done. You know, we don’t have to worry about fishing anymore, unless we want to make some money. Because we had so much money, we’re going to go to the desert, talk to Sandy, and spend all of our cash on staff route. We’re also going to get some artifact troves by trading in some omni geodess. Fingers crossed we will get all of the artifacts and the museum finished sooner rather than later. We finally got pam 10 hearts. I was very happy about this. I’m getting claimed to break open some mystery boxes here. I ran out of money cuz I spent most on star fruit, but I did get a new book of power, the book of mysteries, and this increases the odds of obtaining mystery boxes. It was finally time to use this greenhouse to full effect. We’re going to fill it up with starf fruit. Now, I could have taken out the quality sprinklers and put in a rhythm quality sprinklers. I decided to just leave it because I wanted to focus a lot more on Ginger Island in the very near future as well. It was time to go back into the mines to farm up doggies. I find that floor 15 is the best floor to go down and fight these things to get the monster eradication goes because it’s such a small floor. You can just run down, check dirt patches. If none of them pop up, just take the ladder, rinse and repeat because it’s a checkpoint floor. I also picked up an ancient seed as well, which was great. I can now finally put um ancient fruit into the greenhouse because we need to sell one of those for the shipping bin collection. And that is another Stardew Valley let’s play complete. We’re getting there. It’s going to be very interesting to see if we can get perfection in the first year. I’m very excited about this. And in the next week or so in real life, we will actually have our answer. Thanks again everyone for watching. I really appreciate you.

Monster eradication goals, fishing master and friendship points are on the priority lists but reality is hitting hard with only as handful of weeks to go before we hit year 2, money will be the biggest obstacle to perfection over the next few weeks.
