  1. The Aztecs used obsidian to make weapons. However, you know the Aztecs. They don’t want to kill in battle. Which is why they make a sword (kinda) from obsidian. So it can chip off inside someone and leave them alive long enough for a sacrifice, or just leave them to die after a raid from infection

  2. FUN FACT:
Obsidian was used by the Aztecs in the form of blades of a club. While they weren't durable that was the point, they were meant to be easily replaceable and would break off inside enemies. So if they survived the battle they would most likely parish to infection.

  3. but it does have a perk: it's super sharp. I think it was either the aztecs or mayans that made weapons with obsidian. since the obsidian is sharp yet delicate, there would actaully be shrapnel from the hit.

  4. If you buy some, be careful! I used to have a huge obsidian piece and went to scoot it to somewhere else on the table— barely touched it and cut my hand REALLY GOOD

  5. Speaking from experience you're phone will get scratched first obsidians strength relies on its shape which is why it's one of if not the sharpest material and also why it was used to make weapons back in the time of the ooga boogas

  6. In my school, younger children often use obsidian as currency, there are TONS of it here, as this place was formed due to volcanic activity
