After seeing some discussion about this boss, I noticed that quite a few people don’t fight Deerclops until much later than they should (or they just don’t fight her at all lol).

I believe the fight is doable before the world evil boss in most cases. Sometimes she’s the second boss on my list after King Slime.

I always kill King Slime a few times for the saddle (mostly just for utility and movement), and let me tell you, it makes Deerclops flat out easy. If you get a double jump to pair with the saddle, it makes every single one of her attacks fairly simple to dodge with minimal movement.

The biggest advantage to using the slime mount is the fact that it just doesn’t care about the slow debuff, letting you take hits from her and still have the movement to dodge the others.

You can do the fight by running under her legs as well, and in a lot of cases it makes the fight even easier. But regardless, she’s just not as hard as some people make her out to be, and her drops are plenty worth it by the time you should fight her.

That is all. Have fun with your earlygame Weather Pains and Bone Helms 🙂

If anyone is curious, here’s an example of a pre-world evil boss fight. Even with subpar movement and 0 prep, it’s very much doable. Keep in mind, she’s also the only boss that you can die to and come back to continue the fight!

  2. I mean part of the issue is how stupidly tanky she is. On expert, she has 700 **more** hp than the WoF, and 10 defense on top of that. (For context, the WoF’s eye has 6 defense, though its teeth have 18 defense.)

Sure, she’s easy, just a pain in the ass and easy to forget.
