Its probably due to how the spear works. The more speed you have, the more damage you deal. So netherite was probably buffed for that exact reason since it is endgame gear and made to resist most damages.

This is a change to horse and nautilus armor, not player armor. Since netherite horse armor doesn’t exist the armor points was set to the same as diamond, but now that we have netherite nautilus armor, they’ve changed it to actually have its own stats rather than a copy paste of diamond.
