There’s nothing in the game that can break the log or the boulder to get back there, so you (or another player if you’re in multiplayer) must have been back there already.
The book can also be purchased from the bookseller starting in year 3, but that doesn’t remove the Golden Trashcan – you can get the book multiple times. Subsequent readings of it just grant 100 foraging XP.
