"A big hurdle in Minecraft building is thinking of blocks as blocks rather than colors and textures. It's not obsidian anymore, it's a dark purply block"

-Grian, Hermitcraft S11 (heavily paraphrased)

The other day I was inspired by this quote to try and use gradients on a larger scale, and I decided there was no better place to start than my survival world palace. I copy-pasted it into my creative world, and tried to mimic shadows with different stone blocks, and this is what I ended up with, which I must say I am chuffed to bits with 😉

For anyone who wants to try building like this but is unsure of themselves, just open a new creative world and start doing stuff. There's nothing that could go that wrong and you will have a ton of fun.

Also, I've noticed that only one side looks great , and it has to be when the sun is a very specific position, so if there are any experienced builders out there I would really appreciate any suggestions or tips 🙏🙏

  1. This is perfect!

No offense to anyone but when I see gradient posts it’s just like textured most of the time but this is actually done really well, good job 👍
