Me and my girlfriend are planning to play terraria all year in one world, take it slow and steady with bosses and progression being locked behind each month of the year. I have finished the game lots of times and while I know my way around she is gonna have a fresh experience.
WORST part is ill make the server be calamity with the harder difficulty. While I think it'll be harder for her to figure out the game my reasons are:
1.More bosses, items and content
2. She will get better at the game if she faces harder challenges.( i like dark souls)
3.Calamity is kinda goated
OTHER THAN THAT, what are some tips you guys have for this journey, any suggestions for me and planning the playtrough? At the end of the day I want to have one good looking world with buildings and lots of memories.

I don’t recommend a modded playthrough as a first experience. It will be hard to distinguish between vanilla content and modded, and terraria already has plenty of content for a new player (arguably too much optional content). Terraria is hard enough to get into without lots of additional stuff!
I think you should wait for 1.4.5 and then play it vanilla only. Maybe with some qol mods like “lights and shadows” but nothing too much
