Roblox has until April 22nd 2026 to potentially roll back the chat update, according to the FTC.
I say “potentially” since this only covers the way you verify your age, so there’s a chance that age groups will still exist, but the way to verify your age will change (or literally nothing will happen lol).
Not really? Unless I’m severely misunderstanding it, this seems to just be saying that Roblox would not be allowed to keep your face/ID data long-term nor use it to train AI. If Roblox started doing what they say they do, which is use your data just to verify your age and then delete it, then they would be legally fine.

I’m really hoping they remove this ridiculous update, I’m friends with a 13 year old which was miscategorised into the 21+ group. He was unable to rescan his face, he has no ID and even after manual confirmation they still refused to.

I’m a little out of it at the moment, but this looks like it’s just saying they can’t KEEP the information or use it to train their AIso.
Unfortunately I don’t think they’re changing the way we verify our ages, it’s just further enforcing that they can’t keep shit.
Which is still good, though.
It means that, assuming they follow the law, there’s a lot less risk that comes with a data breach.
Again, correct me if I’m wrong. I am not all there at the moment.
This rule doesn’t affect Roblox at all because it states the personal information of children can’t be used to TRAIN AI, not anything else.
