The Roller Skates are kinda broken… | Terraria 1.4.5
Terraria added these for the 1.4.5 update, at the moment of uploading they have yet to receive a major nerf, and I want to propose some way the current state of them can stay in the game without being too OP.
This was uploaded during 1.4.5.5 and started production the day after the update was first released, so some information could be incorrect at time of uploading and especially later on as I hope these do get some for of patch.

Nah somebody get this man a job at Re-logic for the brainstorming side of game design.
I think the skates should have the effects of the boots, so when you first get them, it may move at like 25 or something, and they get better with the other boots, because it's affected by the other buffs, like walking on water and the lava resistance, so why not just make it pretty much dependant on the boots to even things out
4:20 the stop watch is correct though. The coveyer belts speed is a seperate thing. If you both were moving at 13mph, you'd still be going 13mph, not 0mph
They should make terraspark rollerskates
I genuinely just want dedicated wing and boot accessory slots.

i still think they arent broken i think they are a really cool item that allows for new and interesting strategies and usecases for all players and to note with the boots technically the frog boots are better than terraspark so uh yea.

Don't nerf roller skates. Buff the boots, they're kinda underwhelming anyway.
it would be funny if somewhere in the terraspark boots recipe the rollerblades were jammed in there and absorb some of its grounded and aerial acceleration.
and when wearing boots that were crafted with rollerblades you could toggle on and off the parts of the rollerblades effects up by the hotbar lock and torch god and wire visibility toggles! (or maybe just one big toggle) for the gliding and the minecart tracks stuff.
Nerf the rollerskaters, the ai enemies are complaining, ( terraria community stupidity is bigger than destiny one lol)

personally, I would just rework the roller skates to scale off the speed of your highest tier of boots.
I want them to buff the boots while they nerf the skates. They need to accelerate faster
Instead of nerfing the rollerskates, buff the other items.

Terrarian having fun with a decent mount and being able to dodge bosses in pre-hardmode: hello, human resources?
Boots shouldn't be buffed and skates shouldn't be nerfed.
It sucks having to lose an accessory slot and lose interesting builds. You can't balance a game between having boots and not, just like wings and not. That is why mounts exist to fix the issue Wings and boots create especially on bosses designed before their implementation.
If boots and wings are an mandatory balance everything around them, give us boot and wing slots instead of… well the mess we have now.

Wings work with rollers, so you have great mobility AND good flight.

I actually dislike the roller skates, they were cool at first, but they are way too fast off the line. So If i'm trying to carefully maneuver around a cave or navigate my house, i almost always fly past the NPC or missed the platform I was trying to drop down into. For bosses and overall surface world traveling they're okay, but for actual movement they kind of suck. But that's just my opinion.
Skates(+speed and jump power) + [conveyor belt + hook(stacking speed)] = super Dash
Before I started using the roller skates for boss fights I thought "it shouldn't be that good"
And then I used it all the way to plantera and golem without wings and only a bundle of balloons
