What drives me nuts it it’s literally a copy and paste of existing code. Like it’s maybe an hour of work and done.

I knew I wasn’t bugging when I wouldn’t be able to find purple walls

One of the reasons is that the game loads every possible model for every possible state of every block into memory, and stairs in particular have a bunch of possible states (2 V orientation, times 4 horizontal, times 3 shapes, times 2 waterlogged states, for 48 additional loaded models per new stair block). That adds up quickly when you’re dealing with blocks that come in sixteen+ colors.

I’m torn. It’s frustrating sometimes when those blocks don’t have stairs or walls, but I also think it’s interesting for some materials to be less flexible than others. I think most of these probably should have both stairs an walls, but I also think it would be boring if Minecraft just went full cookie cutter for every block.

They’re literally just variants and it’s baffling to me how all this time Mojang didn’t bother to give those stone variants a block set. It shows how Mojang really is. Have an update/drop that focuses on older content
