I’ve been playing Minecraft for almost 13 years now. In that time, I’ve played over 1,500 hours across PC, console, and legacy console editions, and i absolutely loved it.
I’ve always enjoyed taking my time in a new world, but I rarely progress very far. Even after playing on a world for nearly a month, the furthest I usually get is building a cozy compound, enchanting diamond tools, and setting up a mob farm.
There’s still so much content I want to experience but just haven’t yet. I’ve never properly explored the Nether, done an ocean monument, ancient city, trial chambers, or even fought the Ender Dragon, for example.
Lately, though, something feels different. I’ll start a new world, mine some stone, build a house, make a farm but within just a few hours my enjoyment crashes through the ground. I end up quitting and deleting the world, and then start over the next day. It repeats over and over and over again. I don’t know why it’s happening… and I hate it.

Well… Maybe explore the things you’ve never explored?
Minecraft is an amazing game, but it sounds like you’ve been in your comfort zone too long and it’s stagnated for you. I would encourage you to start adventuring – the risk and reward helps keep it fun. Plus, there are so many cool things out there to collect and bring back to your base!
Are you playing alone? Because I know that feeling, it doesn’t feel the same if there’s not someone on the other line you’re laughing and acting line an idiot with
13 years but no nether is genuinely insane tbh
Well, you already gave your answer. Do the things you haven’t done properly. If you stagnate in the things you are familiar with, then eventually you’re gonna get bored of it.
Just try different things like, try beating a Minecraft UHC world, or with mods, or do a speedrun, or make a world were you try to get all the achievements. Those are some examples, but the possibilities are endless.
If none of that works, I would just take a break from Minecraft altogether honestly.
You’ve barely played the game all these years because your attention span is gold fish level. This is a you issue
You’re in a rut! Got to mix it up and do the things you’ve never done- explore the nether push for the end and dragon fight. Try something new! It feels bad because it’s so familiar. Change up your style, make a list, and create a fresh experience!
I’ve played the same 10% of this game over and over for more than a decade, there’s still another 90% for me to do that I’ve never done, but I’m bored!!!! Help what do I do?????!!!!!!
No hate, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is a you problem, mate
You’ve played the game for over a decade and have never fully explored the nether?? OR fought the dragon? How have you even been playing to where you’ve never beaten the staple experience of the game? Not having done ancient cities or trial chambers, and maybe even ocean monuments can be excused since they’re “fairly new” and not too game changing in case of the latter, but how have you missed two integral parts of the game entirely? I hate to say it but I think minecraft just might not be the game for you if you lose interest after only a month.
Also one piece of advice from my personal experiences: don’t make mob farms. They really suck the enjoyment out of having to go out and gather resources yourself, and removes the fun of hunting and fighting
How about you play a different game in the meantime? Something kind of similar that makes you want to play MC again?
I mean there’s a lot of things to unpack here. Like you should always ask yourself why you want to play this game, and if there’s something you could do differently.
You sir/ma’am are burnt out
Take a break, good few weeks, then come back and do the things you haven’t
On the contrary I’ve been playing for 11 years or so and I still feel like I haven’t fully mastered the game. I don’t have an exact hour count across my whole career but on a launcher instance I’ve kept for the last 2 years or so I have around 3000 hours and I’d argue I have north of 10000 hours total. There’s shitloads of things to do. There’s shitloads of things I’ve done, and there’s shitloads of things I’m yet to do.
You have to have a goal farther than just “I want to play Minecraft”. You have to want to keep your world going. It can’t be forced, it needs to come naturally. You’ll go through several worlds before finding “the one”. But when you do, you’ll sink your life into it. Took me like thirty 10+ hour saves to find one that clicked, and I’ve sunk nearly 400 hours into it since August.
Stagnation breeds decay, OP. Time to try something new, whether it’s getting out of your comfort zone in minecraft and exploring more or just outright trying a new game.
To have logged that many hours and still not have truly played Minecraft is wild. The nether is its own beast, taking down the dragon for the first time is a ride lol and then you get to enjoy elytra after scouring the void that is the end
