I was looking to try playing multiplayer on Terra Draconis with my friends. One of my current friends is currently trying to set up a server of his own in his house using a bunch of old computer parts but if that doesn't work I have a backup plan.
But I want to make sure it's actually going to be able to run what I wanted to do so that's what I'm asking.
The modpack has about a hundred different mods. And I'm planning on playing it with about eight players at maximum.
The server I'm planning on running is going to have 16 GB of RAM and 100 GB of storage. Would that be enough it's about a $300 a year which isn't crazy I used to pay that amount for Xbox game pass.
So would that be enough to run what I wanted to? Thanks in advance I don't really know what I'm doing

use essential
Host yourself
Hetzner
Use essential or do what I did and cobbled together a PC from cheap parts that’s good enough to handle a medium weight server of 10 people or 3-4 people on a heavy server.
Thats so expensive…
Honestly 16 gb for a year for 300 isn’t the worst
I also do hosting as well I’d be willing to give you 20gb with 200 disk and prioritized performance and free daily backups for 300 for the year haha
imo don’t pay for this. help your friend manage his server by paying for hardware and power usage. your dollar will go MUCH farther
That’s the cost of my pc +100$ to spare, but PC cost so much more right now so fair enough.
I’m using xeon e5 2666 v3 + 64gb ram + gtx 1660ti.
You can buy a pc and host it forever for that price
Ya that’s pretty expensive. I always buy my server from MinecraftHostingPro. 50% off Black Friday deal. I got a 14gb for one year for $162.
100GB of storage for a year is overkill and for that price completely not worth it. You could get an 8TB hard drive for that much money. Either way I agree with the other person. Help your friend put together a computer, even if it costs some extra money. There are lots of options for server management software like AMP, Pterodactyl, CraftyController, but I really like Discopanel. It allows a bit more control in what version of Java you’re using and automatically downloads modpacks for you, even with pack updates.
[lagless.gg](http://lagless.gg) bud 75$ cheaper and 200% hardware better
Use Exaroton. It’s always the best.
– only pay while server online
– automatically starts when people want to join / shuts down when people don’t play on it
– extremely flexible
– can play anything on it, very customizable
– extremely fair prices
– if credits run out, automatic backup to Google drive
– EU company
I use pebblehost for my stoneblock 4 server
