genuinely swapped to Red Riding Armor because it's simpler compared to Shroomite. I can use whatever ranged weapon I want, and get to have five sentries as a bonus (one of those coming form the War Table)
it's cool how if shroomite had a set bonus that did anything at all, this wouldn't even be a question

Just craft all three helmets and switch between them at will
The Adamantite Mask agenda must be upheld.
Maybe they could make the Shroomite Armor instead reward using multiple weapons rather than having focused helmets, make the set bonus give more damage when you use a new ranged weapon type, and it kinda gets refreshed or boosted up to a maximum point.
Could also have a stacking Debuff (with a cap) applied to the enemy when you reach Max weapon swap value.
how much would things change if you switch the avenger emblem for a recone scope? the 10% crit 10% damage is better than the emblems 12% damage after all, plus although painful you can still get a putrid scent in crimson worlds too
I wouldn't say "fixed". Imagine a magic armor that had specific pieces that only made wands, tomes, or misc. magic weapons stronger. Weird, right?
I don't really play ranger but I really dont like min maxxing damage as I use warding, so even with the less defense I probably will stick to adamantite
Shroomite armor just needs a damn set bonus that's actually useful
what about Titanium Helmet? it have 16% ranged damage, but low 7% crit chance
I understand not wanting them be TOO strong but if you're going to ask a player to specialize you REALLY need to reward them. It needs to be like, 1.5x better than the progression-equivalent raw damage item.
Also yeah the set bonus is still bad I don't know why you would use it under any condition when bosses are so dodge-oriented and stealth is basically useless anyway.
Ranged gets so cheated at this stage of the game. Where Melee and Mage armor variants have significantly different set bonuses, and Summoner gets to have 2 whole armor sets, Ranger's just restricts which weapon you get to use or even force you to farm multiple load outs.
Wouldn't chlorophyte set be better?

Just nerf the adamantine helmet, if they didn’t shed a tear for obsidian armour or thrower they shouldn’t base the whole ranger middle hard mode balancing around the adamantine helmet .
Like “we will backtrack on entire classes ,kill weapons and ignore mage BUT we draw the line at the adamantine mask “
What if it was 13% instead of 12%? at what point would things be more "worth it"? Is 15% really too overpowered? By how much? I'd love to have a video on what you think could be done to balance this better, I think it'd be a cool discussion :3
The Shroomite armor is the ONLY reason I don't like to play Ranger. It's scarier than even MAGE! I HAVE TO FIGHT THE MOONLORD WITH IT!!!!!! I don't quite remember when you unlock Shroomite though, probably post-mech or post-Plantera.
And this is why sometimes i'll opt for frost armor for late game ranger. Similar defense, similar damage buff, multiclass, and a free debuff.
