Was done with moss mining and mostly just to prove a point. You don't need mending or beacons for any normal scale of project.
I only had to mine for diamonds a few times, same for farming XP at a triple cave spider spawner. TBH the only bad part was the increasing XP cost for anvil repair, that's just kinda annoying. As for moss mining the trick is to pre-place pillars of moss down to the desired height, spaced 4 blocks apart. Even as you double bone meal each to ensure good moss spread you will still make a bone meal profit.
Everyone that complains that mending ruins the game chooses to use a mechanic that is only in the game to allow for irregularly large projects. If you think a feature ruins the game just don't use it. The only way to play a game wrong is to do so in a way that isn't fun for you. So don't do that. I think mending is fine because it makes obscenely large projects less annoying without in any way being required for 99% of people. Don't get me wrong I think its only good as a stopgap and should be replaced with a better mechanic but its also not a big deal. Most complaints about the game I see are "The game isn't what I specifically want it to be and that means its bad" which is annoying when there are a lot of genuine criticisms you could give. Also not every game is for everyone, if you want a focus on progression play Vintage Story or Terraria, both are great. Minecraft isn't bad just because it focuses on building and general sandbox behaviour, the fact it allows for other styles of gameplay at all is a neat bonus IMO.

Nice word salad
All that effort would have been better spent on getting mending and a beacon

Do you perhaps hate yourself? Cuz it looks like you do
Cool
Now do it with netherite
…but why?
Your point is nonexistent
the idea that “if people don’t like mending they don’t have to use it” only works in a vacuum, mojang have (intentionally or not) balanced their game around mending and players who WILL exploit it, it’s the reason the warden can two hit you or piglin brutes two hitting you in iron gear. it’s an extremely overpowered enchantment since it basically removes a core mechanic of the game (being durability) but it’s also been in the game for so long that it’s kinda been built around it (like tridents, maces, armor trims, netherite, and the elytra)
Now of course you don’t HAVE TO play like this and you COULD just not use it, but since the game has been built around it so much with tridents, maces, elytra, and armor trims you will actively be playing in a way that the game doesn’t intend for you to play, because the game is expecting you to actually interact with its mechanics.
Just because you can do something without mending or enchanted tools or whatever challenge you wanna impose upon yourself doesn’t mean that it’s “unnecessary” the game direction has been irreversibly altered because of it. Mending is basically a necessary evil in Minecraft nowadays, because there really isn’t an alternative since the anvil is just terribly designed currently
You don’t need it, you don’t need anything in Minecraft.
You could have done it with stone pickaxes too.
Your game, your choice.
