Fruit is practically free considering you will constantly pass by those trees multiple times so just hitting them once is barely any extra effort and this particularly helps with early game exploration where you are so slow
And fishing is FUCKING BORING

I love fishing, so I will always have a stack of hundreds of cooked fish with me. Fruits just keep rotting in my chests cuz I always have just 2 or 3 of each and I cannot be bothered to give up several inventory spaces
