Call it the Synthesizer (from photosynthesis as well as the synthesizer keyboard) and make it rapidly shoot pairs of projectiles. One projectile travels straight. The other moves like a sign wave. A constant beam links the two projectiles making it look like a solid sound wave. Increased projectile speed also increases the width of the sine wave. Since it fires rapidly it’d look like a beam.
