This is my first hardcore run and I’d love to beat it on my first try, but I’m terrified of the pillars. They’re the “bosses” I’m the least confident in, and often die multiple times per tower (ESPECIALLY vortex!!)
All equipment is either menacing or warding. Terra blade is godly and the gun is deadly.

I’d go full warding
Get the vampire knives for extra healing when needed
Shell armor and full warding and just fight on the edge of pillar range
Get a good supplyg of all the best food/potion buffs, and keep them consistently activated. I’d personally go full warding, and use as many defensive accessories as possible, then mobility. Survival is more important than a high DPS imo, especially when you fight a lot of “weaker” ennemies.
For the pillars, you can always go near them just long enough to attract a few ennemies. You then lead them away from the pillar to fight them. You repeat that as many times as you need until you defeat 100 of them. The goal is to fight as few ennemies at once, so there’s no chance you get overwhelmed.
Magma gloves instead of berserkers
vortex is easy just find a hole and farm the bugs that spawn on top of you
Easiest way is probably just cheese. You should be able to enter the pillar zone long enough to spawn a couple enemies then immediately run back out and kill them. Fighting fair can get you killed.
I’m honestly not sure why you would ever use the venus magnum in this scenario. 1.4 Terra blade is the best weapon for the pillars imo.
You should drop soaring insignia for some sort of shield. (I typically prefer frozen or hero but ankh also works) knockback immunity is kinda a must have unless you want to be stunlocked. I also don’t find infinite flight to be super helpful outside off boss fights but you can swap a different accessory if you want to keep it.
I would also swap shield of cthulu for master ninja gear but thats more of a personal preference thing. Some people really like the shield bash mechanics but I much prefer the longer dash + black belt dodge from master ninja.
I would also fully invest in defense, use shell and as much warding as possible. Potions are not a bad idea either. They can be annoying to craft en masse but they honestly make such a big difference.
