[Update] Better Fishtanks is now on 1.21.1! (New Features, Fixes, and more)
Hey everyone!
A huge thank you for the support on the initial release of Better Fishtanks. Today I’m thrilled to announce that the mod has officially made the jump to Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge)!
For those who missed the first post: Better Fishtanks is all about moving away from "fish in a glass box" and moving toward a more dynamic aquascaping experience. You can build multi-block tanks, automate feeding, and decorate with custom shipwreck parts and branches.
What’s New in Version 1.1.0?
We’ve added some new features to both 1.20.1 and 1.21.1:
- The Aquarist’s Home: The Aquarist Villager now has their own custom building that spawns in Plains Villages!
- Official Guidebook: No more guessing how the systems work. We’ve added an in-game Guidebook to walk you through the base functions of the mod.
The 1.21.1 Fixes
While the Beta 1.21.1 version was out for a while there where some Major issues with that :
- Stability: Fixed a major server-side crash. You can now safely add this to your multiplayer modpacks!
- Recipe Fixes: Crafting recipes are now fully functional in-game.
- Improved Logic: Fixed hopper interactions with the Aquarist’s Table and fixed those pesky Deco slots that were malfunctioning.
- Visual Polish: No more flickering GUIs when you walk away from your tank, and decorations (like the Medium Branch and Deco Cave) will now stay properly inside the tank bounds.
- Compatibility: Ported Nether Depths Upgrade compatibility to 1.21.1 and re-integrated the MINT Lib dependency now that it's updated.
A Quick Reminder
This mod provides the tanks and the tech, but it doesn't add fish—it’s designed to be the ultimate home for your Vanilla fish or any aquatic mod of your choice. (Stay tuned for our own aquatic animal mod coming soon!)

I’d love to see screenshots of your new builds or hear your ideas for future decorations. Happy aquascaping!
