A problem I have with Minecraft builds is that they most of the time end up looking kinda empty and liminal, like ghost towns. So, my main goal in this world is to make a town that feels very alive, by using the customNPCs mod to add various humans, creatures and animals. Some NPCs like the food and fish vendors are even animated by using the “puppet” function!
I also use Armourer’s Workshop to download outfits and items/weapons designed by other players, to dress up my npcs in more detail. Unless they’re wearing routine uniform like the town guard, I don’t reuse any outfit combination or player skin on any of the characters, as I want every NPC to be totally unique. (Also, the town guards’ outfits have variations too, depending on the weapon they hold).
I have built a lot more of this town, including a tavern (my starting point), a colosseum, a hotel, a bathouse, a storage space, a secret cult hideout, a clocktower, an aristocrat vampire’s castle, massive tree in the town square, a blacksmith, and some regular houses in between.
But the port is the most important section of town for me. I also want to expand the port and add an area for docking ships.

So busy and texture heavy
I think the build looks good but it’s hard to tell under the, in my opinion, awful texture pack
