Also, if you place it on the wood flooring that looks like the first pic, it becomes invisible and you just see the bowl.
They made them purchasable in 1.6 so that you could support more than one pet. Technically, you don’t have to have them but any additional pets will lose friendship points until you get them each a bowl.

You can also repaint them to change them after they’re placed.
